    Health Care A Right?

Leo, I totally agree that deporting the illegals would be a good start, because charity begins at home: first we take care of our own, and then spread out, if there's any money left. But the 'deep pockets' want the illegals to stay, and we get outvoted.

    cargo van pay?

What I read into RLENT'S reply was more along the lines of how the only thing you can control entirely is what you choose to do [ie: sit tight, or DH? Accept, or decline? Wait for the QC, or look for a load on your own?]

    Health Care A Right?

Sal: you're right, emotions should be left out of the equation, but we're only human, and they keep getting in anyhow. I guess the consensus is that healthcare should be available to those who can pay for it, and the rest of the poor folks are just out of luck. Well, that'll teach 'em to fall...

    Countdown to the Expo

I'm pretty sure I'll be there, with my lawn chairs - but I am not volunteering for a dunk tank! I might be armed with a squirt gun, though....:D

    Health Care A Right?

I'm assuming that as the President taught Constitutional Law, he wouldn't propose an unconstitutional program, and if he did, it wouldn't stand a chance of getting past the checks and balances designed to prevent it.

    Health Care A Right?

If mandating insurance for vehicles [and seat belt and helmets] isn't unconstitutional, what's the difference? You didn't answer my question: what's the alternative? And is it better for America?

    Health Care A Right?

From a philosophical viewpoint, I'd say it falls under the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, as two out of the three pretty much require a state of health to accomplish. From a practical viewpoint, what's the alternative? Health care for those who can pay for it, and "too...

Applause to Doug and the owner of Expressway for having a sense of humor. :D Rocks to those who never miss a chance to rag on Doug for expecting the government to actually be "of, by, and for the people" - and the framers of the Constitution took great pains to include ALL the people under the...

    Any thoughts on this?

The government must represent all the people, even those who are unable to contribute. Of course some like to assume the noncontributers are just lazy, but the fact is the majority are too young, too old, physically or mentally incapable, or temporarily unemployed. [Though the unemployment is...

    Unions run this administration

"Reasonable" is in the eye of the beholder, innit it? Is a cost of living pay increase unreasonable? Did the officials think it unreasonable when it was their pay at issue? I think the "Right to work" faction is misplacing the blame, is all I'm sayin.

    Unions run this administration

Poor [cash] management skills is pretty much the whole problem, IMO. Unions are just one of the excuses given for ineptitude of officials on all levels, Federal, state, and city. Anything BUT an admission of incompetence [and a willingness to begin trimming expenses with their own] is the order...
