Delivered today [3 days early!] in El Paso, and after reading how slow it is here, was looking forward to a nice warm weekend, doing laundry. But now I have a load picking up tomorrow, for Michigan! Oh well, it's cold & rainy here anyhow.

I'm glad the numbers are in my atlas - every time I see the sign in Ohio, I wonder how likely I am to remember that number in case of a real emergency....:(

The small 'dorm size' fridge sold at WalMart, Best Buy, etc, is fine for the truck. Toss a few frozen dinners in, [you can borrow the truckstop's microwave, if you don't have one] and you can save even more $. Also: no charge for ice if you fill your own cup, and I also refill my gallon jugs...

I wouldn't get all stressed over who made the load bars, as long as the load is properly secured - and I'm pretty sure they will know when they see it. And yes, governments everywhere are glomming onto new penalties - it beats raising taxes, which might cost them their 'jobs', or just cause...

Going home every week or two is tough enough, but going to Fl, which is not a hotspot for expediting, is going to suck up most of your income for fuel. And I can't imagine an owner who doesn't mind having the truck out of service every, or even every other, weekend. Hope you'll clarify...

OVM is correct: one can be temporarily short of cash, rather than longterm. One thing that I notice, though, is the total absence of nutrition in many of the suggestions - hot dogs? Ramen noodles? :eek: Even with limited funds, we can do better than that. Try Healthy Choice soup, tuna...
