    DOT bans texting for drivers

I agree with all of Humble's points, and most of Greg's - except the navigation systems. Not every street [much less building] has a big sign - some have none at all. Some have signs that are fine in daylight, but near invisible in the dark, which is often when we're looking for them. The nav...

    MATS - Louisville Truck Show

Ok Linder - I signed up for the walk. I may be walking with my eyes closed, that early in the am, but I'll try to make it. Save me a Bavarian creme, please! ;)

    Weekend

Delivered today [3 days early!] in El Paso, and after reading how slow it is here, was looking forward to a nice warm weekend, doing laundry. But now I have a load picking up tomorrow, for Michigan! Oh well, it's cold & rainy here anyhow.

State Highway patrol * help numbers

I'm glad the numbers are in my atlas - every time I see the sign in Ohio, I wonder how likely I am to remember that number in case of a real emergency....:(

    Dibetes..The Silent Killer

Thank you, Greg. I'm not diabetic, nor were many of the patients I cared for [Trauma/Orthopaedic unit], but it's good to know stuff anyway. :)

    Dibetes..The Silent Killer

Greg: I've been out of the medical field for some years, what's a "GI index"?

HELP! Refrig for a straight truck

The small 'dorm size' fridge sold at WalMart, Best Buy, etc, is fine for the truck. Toss a few frozen dinners in, [you can borrow the truckstop's microwave, if you don't have one] and you can save even more $. Also: no charge for ice if you fill your own cup, and I also refill my gallon jugs...

Canada New Canada Rule For Tie downs

I wouldn't get all stressed over who made the load bars, as long as the load is properly secured - and I'm pretty sure they will know when they see it. And yes, governments everywhere are glomming onto new penalties - it beats raising taxes, which might cost them their 'jobs', or just cause...

    Off the road.

The nutritionist was what I was going to suggest - hope it works. It would be good if you can update us on how it goes, as far as the diet. :)

    Eating on the Cheap

Anyone who thinks women are [always] frugal has never shopped at Victoria's Secret, or Bath & Body Works, or anyplace in the mall. ;)

    I'm still alive!!

Steve is right, as usual: take all the time you need to get 100% back to normal, so you don't have to 'wimp out' after accepting a load that you weren't ready for yet. You "didn't know you were so well liked here"? Silly boy!! We like you, we really like you! :D Oh - and we like Jenny too, so...

    Need info about fedeX CC

Going home every week or two is tough enough, but going to Fl, which is not a hotspot for expediting, is going to suck up most of your income for fuel. And I can't imagine an owner who doesn't mind having the truck out of service every, or even every other, weekend. Hope you'll clarify...

    Eating on the Cheap

Yep, Leo, you got me: I eat healthy, and I smoke. What contradictory cusses we humans can be! :p However, the subject was those who eat cheap because they need to, and that's not why I avoid restaurants & fast food. I would rather make my own, and get exactly what I want. [I'm making spaghetti...

    Eating on the Cheap

OVM is correct: one can be temporarily short of cash, rather than longterm. One thing that I notice, though, is the total absence of nutrition in many of the suggestions - hot dogs? Ramen noodles? Even with limited funds, we can do better than that. Try Healthy Choice soup, tuna...

    Weight Distribution

Doc: I dislike math & physics, but I'm not dumb enough to think that makes it ok to ignore them. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting, so to speak. :)

Average Load weight for Sprinter 25000

Just a suggestion, Comet: if you repost this in the General or Truck Talk forum, you may get more replies. First, because it's in the wrong place, and because lots of members just skip the Soapbox altogether. Can't say I blame them, either.
