    Another Military travesty

Whereas my judgement is contrary: not the making of them, but the content. Contrary to Turtle's opinion, I don't find ridicule of a group of people [based upon characteristics they didn't choose] defensible, in any context. And encouraging it among people who must risk their lives for & with...

    Another Military travesty

No argument with the need for some lighter moments in any stressful situation, just think that making certain classes of people the target of ridicule is not defensible, or wise in any situation, but particularly the military. We need a strong and committed military, and every member of the...

    Another Military travesty

Not sure what you're asking [or that I wanna know, either] I'm "gifted" in some ways, others, not so much - like everyone else.

    Another Military travesty

Why, serving her country, of course. Actually, we don't know yet - she hasn't been inducted, and is waiting for a decision on her request to override a rejection [on the basis of kidney stones she had, and had taken care of.] Her recruiter assures her that the Navy generally approves, but they...

    Underage drinking

Witness' last paragraph makes an important point: sweeping generalizations [military members are more mature, college students are irresponsible, parents are irresponsible, Democrats are left wing nuts, Republicans are right wing nuts - whatever] serve no purpose except to reinforce a...

    Another Military travesty

If this keeps up, the good commanders will be all we have left - and for the sake of all of us, [and especially my daughter, who is about to be sworn into the Navy], that's what we deserve.

Humourous Quotes & Puns (Add your favourites)

The inimitable Yogi could keep us entertained all day, all by himself - one of my favorites: "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded." :D

In a-ha moment, words viral, epic consigned to trash

Robust. Going forward. [As opposed to, say, sideways?] Dynamic.

Wikileaks Reveals US Won't Comply With Treaty Obligations

What court? It's a question of the US assisting another government [as agreed by treaty with said government] in their investigation of allegations made about the US government's treatment of their citizens. Do they not have the same right to investigate such claims as the US would assert, if...

Wikileaks Reveals US Won't Comply With Treaty Obligations

That you felt it necessary to make such comments is an affirmation of the veracity of my sigline - not coincidentally, one inspired by none other than your own words. The comments are simply and unjustifiably rude, which constitutes a violation of the code of conduct that YOU are supposed to...

Wikileaks Reveals US Won't Comply With Treaty Obligations

[LIST=1] I think you're just messing with my head, but I'll go along with it. And #1 should have not lie, cheat, disregard the law, or it's own word in order to accomplish it's goals. If our word [signature] is worthless, then so are we. Period.

Wikileaks Reveals US Won't Comply With Treaty Obligations

Sounds like you and Xiggi both are ok with anything, long as you can point to someone else who is also doing it. That's pretty scary.

    Underage drinking

Totally agree. But the fact that drinking IS a big problem among college age folks says we're doing something wrong, no?

    Underage drinking

To the best of my knowledge, parents who serve their children wine do so only in their own [or family/friend's] home, [usually watered], and that's nobody else's business. And as you say, it's largely a cultural issue, hardly equal to enabling [spoiled] teens to 'party' however they wish.

Pilot Rewards Card and DOT Inspections

Moot's advice makes the most sense to me: I'm not legally required to have a driver reward card, therefore not legally required to produce one, if asked. Fuel receipts are another story, and those I would produce upon request. Problem solved. :)

NEW 2011 IFTA STICKERS - Do you have yours on?

Small carriers may not have the same issues as large ones, but they also don't have the same resources - the Safety Dept may be one person, and the automated software & programs may be nonexistent. As long as I stay legal, no problem. :)

Mich gives Free ride,,Truck drivers excluded

I'm sure there are people who feel they have a right to drive regardless of how many violations they accrue, but I doubt whether there are enough who feel that way to justify the blanket statement made by Greg, that people in general feel that way. "Too lazy to look at the speedometer"? Really...
