Just talked to Jeff, and it's still up in the air whether he'll be returning home in a rental car [insurance] or a bus, but most likely, I'll be heading to Dallas in a couple hours to take him wherever he needs to go [not home, though]. Like everyone who posted, the only thing he is worried...

I had to DH to Texarkana for truck repair, but I've just left a voicemail on the OP's phone [in one post, he says 'we', so I'm assuming there's another person whose phone he's using] offering to return to Dallas this evening if I get no load - and at this point, there probably won't be a load...

I believe the word you meant is drivel. And actually, 'getting involved' is exactly what the mods are supposed to do, when the situation calls for it - else why are they here? When multiple threads get swamped with useless drivel, either someone reins it in, or people lose interest and go...

Your surprise at what Lawrence is allowing stems from your lack of knowledge as to what Lawrence does and doesn't do here. And if this were your board and you deleted 20-30 threads a day, those with an IQ greater than their shoe size would be elsewhere. O - is that why you're here, because...

I think it would be wise to specify what size & type vehicle, when you're asking. The response that a given carrier has a lot of loads out west isn't much use if they mean C & D reefers, and you have something else.

I should mention also that it is possible to get your own authority, [and insurance, etc], and book whatever loads you can get - but it's not something an inexperienced person should start out doing. I am impressed that even experienced folks can manage it - that's multitasking with a capital M...

What keeps you from it? Your carrier - it's their authority and insurance you're running with, and expedited means exclusive use of the truck. That said, there are times when you can do this, [it's called a backhaul] with some carriers [Panther is one]. They have rules about how it's to be done...
