    Dont pee your pants

My favorite was the wife who asked hubby to bring home some human beef  and the chicken recipe that said to sprinkle with freshly ground black people, and the guy who painted his room period red:eek: and the classic pancake attack, too:p Best site ever!

    Logs, Randoms and 34's

Refuse to comply, and you'll be terminated, no ifs, ands, or buts. I believe FedEx is mistaken in including OOS drivers in the random pool, but the time to challenge it is before they notify you that you've been chosen, not after.

    Logs, Randoms and 34's

It would seem to be a FedEx thing: the regs clearly state that random names are chosen from those "on duty" in safety sensitive positions. Over the years, I've had 4 random tests, every one upon a return to duty status. Someone needs to get an answer from FedEx, methinks.

    CA and AZ check points

Texas & Arizona are most interested in illegal aliens and drugs, California and Florida are most interested in illegal agriculture [incoming, especially], and North Carolina is interested in illegal use of offroad fuel - only place I've ever had the tanks dipsticked, lol. None are a big deal...

    Logs, Randoms and 34's

The pool from which random names are selected for drug testing is supposed to be purged of names of those off duty, [vacation, ill, day off] before names are selected, so no one should interrupt a 34 hr restart to test. It does have to be logged.

How to be a tourist in DC?

Normally, I'd head for Va after delivery, but this one's a round trip - has to be returned to origin, so I get to hang out for awhile. :)

How to be a tourist in DC?

Thanks so much, guys - good ideas. I know security is really strict, as I have to report to a screening facility prior to attempting delivery, which is something different. I might check out L'infant after delivery on Tues, then take Matlock's advice and get a room for the night in Va, leaving...

    First time out

Steve: when the OP is as successful as you are, he can afford to eat like you do. ;) Just starting out, he needs to be on a strict budget, which pretty much eliminates restaurants, but he can still eat 'good' by getting it at a store. In fact, he can get vegetables and fruits with a prepared...

How to be a tourist in DC?

Thanks, Jerry Lee. Delivery is at the Reagan Bldg, next to the Mall, so the nearest Metro lot sounds like a good plan. :)

How to be a tourist in DC?

In NYC, I could probably get away with that, lol, but I'm thinking security in DC is pretty uptight....

    First time out

Forgot: since you don't have a microwave, just take your dinners into the truckstop & use theirs - I used to do it all the time. :D

    First time out

USA is right, you can't afford to eat out. Which is really ok, because you'll eat better and save money by buying dinner from the WalMart or a grocery store. For example: a rotisserie chicken and cold potato or pasta salad is less than $10, plus you'll have chicken enough for a sandwich or two...

How to be a tourist in DC?

I have a delivery in Washington DC next Tues, which has to be picked up on Wed night for return to origin. In the interval, I'd love to play tourist for a day or two, especially at the Smithsonian - but where can I leave the truck?

    Never laughed so hard.

DAM! [It's ok without the 'n', right?] this stupid censor makes me want to use bad language - I was looking forward to a good giggle on this cold & dreary day.:(

RoadKing: how can you be safe if you can't see? Check out 'Slushbusters' [online], they'll solve the iced up wiper problem. :)

    expedite expo

Apples & oranges, lol: you're talking about the workshop/seminars, which are held periodically throughout the year, in different locations. And yes, you absolutely should go - it's designed to provide information to newbies and wannabes from the pros. The Expo is held once a year, in Wilmington...

What did you do during the Blizzard of 2011

Left El Paso Wed, eastbound on 10, then 20. Hit ice around Odessa, parked for a few hours in Cisco, hoping sun would melt the ice, no luck, was solid [and choppy!] ice all the way through Dallas. Dispatch was very proactive, reminding me to stop if conditions were too bad - was good to hear it...
