    Truck is acting retarded

For a week now, the truck [an 04 Sterling, small Mercedes engine, automatic shift] has been acting retarded: not stupid, but s l o w. It was diagnosed on the computer, no codes, nothing wrong, everything looks just right. Had the fuel filter changed, ran out fuel in tank with a quart of Diesel...

    Ahhh Another Royal Wedding ...

Louixo: I imagine most of them would, but then the 'paps' would have to find a REAL job [not easy anymore], and the newspapers would have to find something of news value to print instead. They'd prefer avoiding any possibility of offending current or potential advertisers, so we've been...

Just another one of those "Gotchya" questions.

It's not just the inconsistencies of Bachmann that make her look bad, it's also the tremendous hypocrisy of railing against "government welfare" [such as Medicaid & farm subsidies] while collecting them herself. Apparently, she's against them for other people but not when they benefit her own...

    libraries i like

Thank you, EB, for all the research. I've never met a library I didn't like, but almost consider them off limits since I upsized to a S/T - it's good to know where I can still find some. Especially the ones that sell books cheap. :D The Strongsville, Oh library is one of those. [@ the...

    June Location with banter

If memory serves [too lazy to search for the receipt], cost for a S/T was $200 at the 09 Expo.

Re: NLM and other Pick up #'s

I'm blaming this one on the facility that held the freight for pickup. On the air cargo 'cookie sheet', with cargo net still in place - one 8x10 'pallet' @ 7500 lbs. [Aren't they supposed to break it down?] Was a huge PITA for the consignee to unload, but they did a pretty good job on their end...

Tractor trailer crashes into Amtrak train

"Overall, large truck crashes caused 199 injuries in Nevada last year, but federal authorities don't detail who was at fault." [Why not? They want to know everything about us, including what we are doing 24/7, but they don't want to know who's causing large truck crashes?!] Research has shown...

Gastric Bypass a possible cure for diabetes?

No worries: got the extinguisher, right next to the drivers seat. [And the raspberry creampuffs on the other side.] :D

Gastric Bypass a possible cure for diabetes?

Maybe Edna St Vincent Millay had us pegged when she wrote "My candle burns at both ends, it will not last the night. But ah, my friends, and oh, my foes: it makes a lovely light." We can be our own worst enemy, and enjoy doing it, too. :(

What is the size of the time critical "road" freight market?

"Nuts" & "time critical" works perfectly, though - like Jack Berry said, it's all over the map. Literally. "Average" is impossible in a field that stretches from cargo vans to tractor trailers.

Re: NLM and other Pick up #'s

Didn't get one on today's pickup [or which airline was shipping it to the facility]. What's worse than wasting time, for me, is looking unprofessional/unprepared when at the customer. :o Like OVM said: we're better than that. I blame it on the 'computer' - they're capable of all kinds of...

Gastric Bypass a possible cure for diabetes?

I'd consider any surgery to be a last resort, when the best efforts at diet & exercise aren't enough, because surgery can create it's own set of problems. Also, AMonger has a point: every body has it's own internal 'setpoint' for weight - it's near impossible to get past that, without starving...
