    Illinois Simplifies State Truck Laws

The 400 lb exemption for APUs has been in effect for years - I thought it was a federal rule [that many state LEOs are unaware of.] Glad to see the split speed limit [mostly] eliminated, don't understand how they justify keeping it in place anywhere. But then, it IS Illinois, the state that...

    drive/sleep mode

Patperkins: some of the time I drove cargo van was with a codriver, several of whom were total strangers. [And only one I swore I'd never go with again, lol.] We wanted to make it as fair as possible, which gets complicated when you have no idea of when the driving begins each day, or how long...

    flunker

My understanding of the 'automatic only' restriction is that it is used to indicate a physical handicap that prevents the driver from shifting, not to indicate that one doesn't know how to shift.

This is one of the most helpful and best written posts I've seen in a very long time, and I think it should be a sticky.

    Lane Closed Ahead

Totally agree: if they couldn't get in, they'd quit doin it. One woman in Chicago though, was not to be dissuaded - she kept nudging her Escalade [talk about 'entitled'!] closer & closer to my truck, and even the air horn didn't faze her! She won, because I am too much of a lady to roll the...

    Electronic Rumble Strips LDWS

I can just see someone with multiple personality disorder trying that one on the LEO: "Honest, Officer - Sybil has been asleep for 12 hours!" :D

    Fed Gov Reg's cost Jobs...

I can sympathize with the frustration over excessive regulation - if I deliver at night, too far to DH to a truckstop, sleep at Walmart, and head for the ts in the morning, I can't fill the fuel tanks [while I have nothing but time] because it will start the 14 hr clock. I have to wait until I...

    Electronic Rumble Strips LDWS

Surprised to touch the white line when reaching for something? Did you not know, or forget, that the hand always follows the eye? I know it, and have to remind myself constantly to counteract it, lol. It sounds like a very smart investment in safety, until it becomes standard in every vehicle.

whats the best and eazyest wat to buy a van or truck

Easiest: cargo van. Pay cash. :D Smartest: read the Newbies, FAQ, and the carriers' forums, so you have some idea of which carrier might be good for you - make sure to find one thast is signing on vans before you decide, because some aren't.

    Expo and bbq huge success!

What Susie said. :D I thanked the guys personally, but I'm thinking if they didn't get a little something 'extra' for their Herculean efforts, they should. Something to consider for next year....

    Lane Closed Ahead

AMonger: there will always be a few who throw everything out of whack by going faster, slower, or when & where they aren't expected - BUT as 4 way stop signs and roundabouts prove, most drivers will take their proper turn. Even more when it's clearly fair to everyone. PS Local roads included, as...
