This is why the world is so messed up

This one is pretty extreme, but there are a lot of parents who find it amusing to hear 'bad' words from a very small child. Every time I hear 'parents should have the right' [insert whatever here], I can't help but think that way too many parents aren't good ones, or even acceptable ones. It's a...

    Looking to get into expedite

ATeam's Intro to Expediting is a good resource - also read the Newbies FAQ [above the listings of threads], there's a lot there to consider.

Leaving KC for Iowa - anyone coming in, bring the rain gear, it's pouring . Was parked in a closed gas station this afternoon [for shade & quiet] when it started, and it was wicked - when I jumped up front to close the wing vents, there were 4 wheelers parked in every spot under the canopy, lol.

Md. judge rules Stolen Valor Act unconstitutional

Say goodbye to any authority to tell anyone they're 'off topic'..... On topic: Greg is 100% right - saying one is a decorated vet is protected by freedom of speech, even if it's a lie. [Is that crazy Reverend who protests at funerals telling the truth?] The idea of stealing valor is just silly...

Increased Security in NYC, Police Inspecting Trucks

Probably a coincidence, but I spent 45 minutes in a mile long line of trucks waiting for security to clear them/me at the exit from Ford [Claycomo] this morning. Even for NLM, that's unusual.....

WIT - why the scare tactic ?

The whole issue of 'equality' for women had to do with getting paid less for the same work, and anyone who claims women expect total equality is just nuts. I don't want to fix the garbage disposal, and I don't want the man in my life [that's hypothetical, you understand;)] making curtains.:eek...

American flag lowered in presence of saudi flag

Fox sells a lot of advertising by getting a lot of viewers outraged - but when you look closer, it's not quite the story the headlines promised. In the first one, only the 13 year old and her mother tell their side - where are the school officials to present theirs? When they do, [in another...

How do you prepare for winter?

Forgot: a bit of isopropyl alcohol in the washer fluid [to prevent freezing], and spare fuel filters in case of gelling. I keep extra filters anyhow, but add another for winter, just in case.

How do you prepare for winter?

That's a great idea, Xiggi, and I bet you're right, long as we use common sense and don't have everything sent there, but just stuff we may need before we go home. :)

    Inverter / watts question

I spose I could, just wasn't sure whether interrupted power might be an issue - seemed safer to add more battery power. BTW: excellent choice, on the rice cooker - it's the single most versatile cooking utensil [besides the microwave] I've found. It boils, [water, pasta, veggies, soup], browns...

So you have a gun in your truck?

AM: if you're a compulsive reader [like me] you know it's a violation of federal law to use most anything in a manner other than that for which it was intended - says so on the label, lol. I've no idea how effective it actually is, never had to use it, but if I do, I'll take my chances...

So you have a gun in your truck?

Very good advice, purgoose, lol. I don't carry - because there are too many times/places it is forbidden, it's not worth the hassles involved, to me. There are other ways to defend oneself, wasp spray is one, yes. Simply being alert to the surroundings is the one I use most.

If you get the chance, stop in at the Smokey Mountains Knifeworks [not hard to find, lol]. One of our old members RoadHooligan is working there, and he's a genius at woodcarving - he gave me a little gnome that is amazingly expressive. Sevierville is a beautiful place, the scenery is as pretty...

    Inverter / watts question

Mine's 2500 [upgraded when the 1500 died], has 3 AC outlets [1 for the fridge, 1 for the laptop, the 3rd for whatever is in use at the moment] and a USB port. I've found that running the microwave requires running the truck [APU alone isn't enough, though it puts out more voltage than the truck...

American flag lowered in presence of saudi flag

No need to state their opinion: both the decision to publish the photo and the caption written for it make their opinion crystal clear: this will generate outrage, which fuels sales. Never mind whether the outrage is justified, just generate it to increase profit. If you're old enough to...
