    How is your week?

Wait - what? Ohio law requires dog owners to maintain control of their pet, but not cows?! That's asinine!!

    TWIC - Heads Up

Well, how many agencies does the government need to cover security? [I think I read recently that there are 52 separate ones!]

    Carriers and privacy

If you mean they're compiling a database of which carriers each O/O is leased to, I don't see that as private, exactly - not when the vehicle has the carrier's name on it, and it's driven in public [where anyone might see them]. The question is, for what purpose are they doing it?

    Hire the KID NOW!

Nobody can love your kids as much as you do - so you can't ever leave them with anyone, lest you be guilty if anything happens? Was my friend Cari guilty for leaving her little ones with her inlaws while attending a wedding, when the 18 month old didn't survive a fall? I don't think so -...

Oak Park, IL to ban eating, drinking behind the wheel?

mj: they haven't actually banned eating & drinking, just talking about a proposal - and I'm pretty sure the general response will be much like ours, and it will be a non issue. The problem is distraction - banning the specific behaviors won't do much to address the problem, because they'll just...

Rising Driver Turnover Rate Threatens Shippers

I wish I could do that, but I doubt they have time to wait for an answer while I find the pickup location [not a major city] and the delivery [ditto] so I can get an idea of the routing, and what time I can expect to hit any major cities on the way, because I just don't know it all already. Had...

    Hire the KID NOW!

"The kid has more sense than the parents" - huh? Would that be true if the 3 yr old got hit by a bus/truck/car while walking alone? What if he were snatched by a pervert and killed? No 3 yr old should be outside unattended, precisely because they DON'T have enough sense to know what could...

    October Banter and Location

In more than six years of driving, I've never once woke up thinking "I don't wanna go to work today" - that's reason to be happy, IMO. I sometimes wish I hadn't gone to work, lol, but only in hindsight! :D

Is Herman Cain the new target?

More jobs is what I've been saying for quite awhile now - people I know don't want a handout, or a safety net, they want to work - as they always have. It must be heLL to lose a longtime job, and not find another, watching as the savings dwindle, doing without things you can't afford anymore...

Is Herman Cain the new target?

I'm afraid "the US trade imbalance" is somewhat above my pay grade, lol [ok, it's a subject that bores me to tears], the effects on not wealthy people of tax codes is more my speed. :)

Rising Driver Turnover Rate Threatens Shippers

My best guess [based on experience] is that dispatch would have said "Just do the best you can, and keep us informed. If the delivery needs rescheduled, we'll take care of it." And they did, but my point is that the situation wasn't one of unexpected delay - the mess around Baltimore/DC is well...

We O/O's have to MAKE a profit

I know two guys who started delivering pizza as a temp job after losing their 'real' jobs, and both said they made more money!

Is Herman Cain the new target?

If the sales tax had exceptions for used goods, [as the Fair Tax does], it'd be easier on the low income people, and therefore more reasonable.

Is Herman Cain the new target?

Disagree: some politicians actually start out with the desire to make things better for their constituents and their country - [Dennis Kucinich is one that comes to mind]. A few junkets to exotic locales, a few large donations to their favorite charities, a few tickets that can't be had for love...

Is Herman Cain the new target?

No doubt some protesters are jealous & greedy - as RLENT said, a crowd that size has all kinds of people. But they aren't saying corporations and CEO's 'shouldn't have the money and think they should' at all - they're saying the corporations have too much power over the lawmakers [Congress]...

    Occupy Wall Street?

Agreed. When the government believes it has to bail out a corporation whose mismanagement threatens the loss of too many jobs for society to withstand ['too big to fail'] that's a clear indication that said corporation should be considered 'too big to survive' as well.
