    $1.20 a mile ?

That is true. All the costs have to be looked at. Panther pays tolls which can be a big number but some don't. All kinds of variables outside of just the rate.

Not sure they would think of it in quite those terms. ;)

I would be in favor of that only for the reason that people would be more engaged as to what they are getting for the costs. Right now, many are just clueless. "Someone else is paying so no need to pay attention".

    $1.20 a mile ?

Probably a few things to add. If using the 1.30 plus FSC example, you are right in that fuel discounts and the like have to be factored. If using Panther, have to remember that deadhead is paid and empty moves all factor with the overall rate.

I don't think Pappa Johns will be closing any time soon. May lose some franchises so it is hard to tell. Many will just go to part-timers/layoffs in the cases where they are over 50 employees. As mentioned, Darden already started and many are following. Won't be the end of the world, but likely...

And now the positive side of Walmart that expediters and the trucking industry benefit. Everything from parking, food,to everything a fraction of the cost at a truck stop. How many buy say a gallon of oil from a local vendor or truck stop to help them. Not many of course. Going on a grander...

Walmart is a interesting story related to this topic. Because of how they operate, they forced most of their competitors to adapt the cost slashing mentality or basically be ran out of business. Look at small towns where Walmart came in. It is there you will see the end result. It put many small...

Not all, but there are many franshise operators that have more than one location that gets them past the 50 employee mark. This will also slow job creation because there is no reason to expand just to give it away. McDonalds currently has a exemption but I can't remember for how long. I also...

That is the part many people don't get. They see big corporations and think they have all this ability to pay the healthcare. Some do, but many whether fast food, hotel industry, auto repair places and the list goes on are FRANCHISES. Most don't carry a balance sheet to support those kinds of...

May or may not be true. I doubt it in many cases because many businesses just aren't that big. With that said, the reality is in the cases where it is true, the fallout remains the same for the people working there. There's your reality. Better wake up. Whether you watch Fox News or not won't...

Without a doubt. We are heavily involved in a clinic here in TN. Family business. The decision has already been made to no longer accept any new medicaid patients unless it is cash up front. Just one of many changes. With a whole lot more coming.

I believe they just kinda stumbled in to it. I have no idea what Fox said or didn't say. Still like Fox news tho. As for the diaper woman comparision, just no place to go with that one.

Some Obama friendly businesses will dodge the bullet for a while through the exemption program. I still think you will see many businesses just go to part-timers or close unless they open the door back up to those "temporary" exemptions. People can't say they weren't warned. I believe Darden...

Obama Didn't Win - ROMNEY LOST!

WIthout a doubt the republican party better get a grip on how to address those issues, or like you said, try to kick them to them state level. But I think it is much more involved than that. A poor immigration policy and calling it what it is, they totally ignored minorities. Big mistake. But...

    $1.20 a mile ?

The 1.20 rate is more of a staple answer. Probably 1.20 a mile plus FSC if talking a straight truck. As for mileage, that is a wide open question depending on who the carrier is.

That's funny but a trait we seem to share. Well maybe. What have I "willingly" ignored? This should be good. I may or may not. I'll give you a pass on this one since you been absent. I don't believe the "gimmie goobers" was the whole issue with the Romney loss and never stated that. But...

    Obama just won...

Rlent's response was expected. That is why I poised the question. It is too easy to "take the T & E" to be critical of others yet can't explain his own. But of course, maybe he will change his mind and enlighten us all.
