This Might Just be Wishful Thinking

the scariest thing I read was this - The Nobel Prize-winning economist John Forbes Nash (the subject of the book and movie "A Beautiful Mind") was all about duopolies. He showed that two powerful competitors frequently end up locked in a stable, mutually beneficial dance of...

    Express 1 Buyout

Steady there steady... As paullud mentioned, not one of us can see what those at the top can see whether it is how the policy in the dispatch department works or how the upper management team plans their strategy. I can tell you how the process works, how a transition takes place and what...

    Nissan NV3500

Young? I guess ... don't feel that way today - that's for sure. I had several panel trucks, my favorite was a 1939 Ford 4X4 - yes 4X4, it was built by Harrington for Ford. It was a '39 Ford cab with a built body that extended enough to hold three skids and stand up in like a sprinter.

    Nissan NV3500

What?!? Are you in your 70's? Panel vans are European things, Panel Trucks are American things. Panel trucks were made by Ford, Dodge, Chev/GMC and a few others. They were pickups with panel bodies on them. This is not to be confused with Sedan Delivery vehicles which were cars made into...

    Forget Bush...Blame The ATM's

So I am going to assume with GE's exodus of jobs in the past 10 years, Obama's past 2 are less of a concern than the 8 years of Bush where GE among others have established themselves in third world countries where the jobs are. It doesn't matter when you look at the bigger picture, more jobs...

    About the pre trip test.

Hate to disappoint you but you need to polish up on your comprehension skills. It isn't about how perfect you want me to be but how some can't get past the most basic part of the test. I question why it is so hard to pass the test, I am not thinking it is the person, maybe it is the examiner...

    About the pre trip test.

Why do so many people have problems with the easiest part of the test? I wouldn't put gloves on, I would get your hands dirty and remember why. ALSO just a little tidbit, memorize the explanation of the parts of the brakes and the tire tread limits.

    Express 1 Buyout

The word under-performing from our point of view may be a lot different from those at higher levels. We didn't see what they see, we are not privy to the management styles of either party, the people doing the buying may see something that they can improve on and other things they can cut. The...

    XPO Stock

Well I am going to say that if Penske is involved, WP like others are their customer and theirs alone where E-1 provides some services as an outside carrier at fix rates.

    Nissan Enters Expediting...

Thanks for the clarification. I understand the dealer looking at the market, it is different than the company. BUT I have to ask - why the etrack so high on the walls and why not ftrack?

    XPO Stock

Penske? I understand Penske has a pool of companies they tap to move product for WP and others. IT is Penske's customer (who does the invoicing to WP), not E-1s or am I wrong?

Barack Obama 'overruled top legal advice'

Easy I would agree with you but we didn't attack Japan or Germany before the war other than the skirmishes with German U boats to defend our shipping along the east coast and the freezing of some assets because of Japan's aggression in the pacific that threaten the US directly. Of course we were...

    Express 1 Buyout

Actually that would be a great reason to invest into the company. If the company is under-preforming and they see that the management of the company is the problem where they can change it and take it in the right direction, it would be a good investment. This happens often in the medium...

I keep getting the emails ...

Two things; did you give them your email address? is there an opt out link in the email? If there is a no to either of these questions, write to them telling them you want your email address removed from their list.

    XPO Stock

If they are getting 22% margins, then they are doing better than most companies who operate at the 5 to 8% level. I think the discovery period yielded many possible benefits of the investment which may include shifting the focus to some other place in the market and dropping those things that...

    Nissan Enters Expediting...

OVM, get real, viable market? If we were making consistent money across the board where people would never fail and had more or less a united front to present companies, we would get more notice as a market. The potential from your point of view is a lot different than that of the market...

    Hedging their bets

Dole is a good example of a repeat this time around. He did run a very ineffective campaign but so did the party. It is pretty much the same situation in 2008, no incumbent running and McCain being the 'selected' candidate to run against Obama, which causes a lot of people to be less confident...

new company driver thinking of buying Sprinter

Well I don't know... BUT IF you can get into a tractor, go for it. You will take freight from those straight trucks and vans at the same time. :D

    Hmmm Seems its "Anyone But.....barry"...

Think of it this way Dennis, we are a bunch of old farts hanging around the checker board down at the general store. One of us makes a comment and the others follow up with what they think to reinforce the first comment. "It looks like it's going to rain today ... " "yep ... got to get the...
