    Paccar PX8 Fuel Mileage

A friend of mine is buying a 2011 KW T370 with a Paccar PX8 set at 300HP and an Allison 5 speed auto. It has a 272 inch wheel base, 12k front axle and 21k rear with a 5.57 ratio. The truck will have an 84 inch sleeper and 22 foot dry box. The dealer has him convinced that he will get 13-14...

    FedEx Custom Critical goes Red

This is from the weekly fleet bulletin, Feb. 11, 2011. First and foremost, FedEx Custom Critical will pay the fees to have your old logos removed and new logos installed. This part of the rebranding process will likely begin in June. Second, we will have new apparel reflecting the new...

    Vehicle Activity

So far this year our load count is 19 vs 20 in 2010. Our miles are down about 900. Our pay is up about $1500. Our rate per mile is up. So far a pretty good start to the year especially if you consider that we were home (in service) 14 days so far this year.

    Digital Camera Questions

The shutter speeds are a fraction of a second. 250=1/250th of a second and 1000=1/1000th of a second. The faster the shutter speed (or the higher the number) the more action it will stop. It takes about 1/4000th of a second shutter speed to stop a hummingbirds wings while in flight. An airplane...

Canada Can you pass? New Canadian Citizen test

I got 5 correct.:o But then again I live in Florida and the only thing I know about Canadians is that they are smart enough to come down here in the winter to get away from the cold.

    It gets old

They will most likely find a broken wire at a connector. The flickering side would lead me to believe that a wire is brushing up against a connector or other wire. Look for the area where your left and right sides come together. Your parking lights and clearance lamps are all on the same...

    Good Auto Auction?

Do you really need to own a car? If you are not home often and then only for a few days or a week consider renting a car for a week from someone like Enterprise. No maintenance, depreciation or monthly insurance bills. And you get to drive something different each time. Just a thought.

    It gets old

If mine had gone out while still in CT there is no way I could have sat underneath it in 17 degree weather on a chunk of ice in the truck stop and fixed it myself. It would have had to go into the shop. Luckily SC was dry and warm.

    It gets old

Had a similar problem about 10 days ago. On a run from CT to SC lost all of the box clearance lights. Noticed just at sunrise. Completed the run and then at the J in Rockhill started searching for the problem. Traced it backwards from the lights using a tester and found a wire to wire connector...

I might be mistaken but I seem to remember someone posting that you could go OOS while predispatched. I think it was A Team but I am not sure.

    Logs, Randoms and 34's

If you don't want to be called for a random you would have to put your truck and yourself out of service. (You have to call dispatch to put yourself out) We do this whenever we are at home and don't want to be disturbed. A 34 hour restart is not required to be on duty just to get your 70 hours...

Any other companies having problems with the MCP 200

The logging and ECM hook up don't seem to be a problem. The problem is in them turning themselves on and off, load opps not coming through quickly, tracking not working, slow start up and layouts problem with the keyboard. Our GPS is horrible. Takes forever to reroute and can't always find a...

Next truck, asap or by early summer

There's some great deals to be found on older well maintained trucks. The problem is, a lot of carriers won't sign them on. FedEx is 5 years old on a Class 7 and 8 years on a class 8. Check to see what the requirements are for the carrier you plan on signing them on with.

    Logs, Randoms and 34's

You move the truck you start your clock and a drug test is an on duty activity. But there is a guy in logging that can change anything even after you approve and send. Like the time I drove off from a rest area without switching myself to the active driver.

    ICE on Truck Roof

Great idea except it would probably rip a hole in my translucent roof. But since I do have a translucent roof I don't get as much ice or snow build up.
