We did 6 loads in 3 weeks. Got hung up in CA for 4 days.
Our average would have been 2222 per run, but we did an 85 mile run while we were in CA so that brought the average down to 1866.
How do you market yourself and your services to brokers and agents?
I know Landstar BCO's do this and so should anyone running on their own authority that work with brokers.
(I think this will be of interest to those of us that wait for the beep and our carrier to find us a load.)
There are new straight trucks on the dealers lots now.
FYDA has 2012 Cascadias for $135k and Freightliner of Knoxville has 2012 M2's for $125k.
You need at least 20% down and good credit to buy one.
To rich for my blood. I'll stick with my paid for 06.
Give it a try and if it doesn't work out resell the truck at a profit.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. (Or is that nothing ventured, nothing lost?)
Same to you and your misses.
I'm not a fleet owner but it seems to me finding the quality teams would be the hardest part.
Tractors seem to be in demand everywhere, not just in expedite.
It also seems that it is hard to get an OTR team to take on the mindset of an expediter. They have the "got to keep the wheels turning"...
Today, 9/9/2011, they closed at $0.481. Equivalent to $0.01924 before the 1 for 25 reverse split. There stock is now worth less than 2 cents per share.
I am so glad I didn't listen to a friend who advised me to buy at 10 cents a share.
When we drove for fleet owners our contract was to lease the vehicle. There was nothing in the lease agreement about the owner telling us what loads to take or when to take time off.
If a fleet owner wants to micro manage there vehicles they need to hire drivers as employees.
I like the idea of a battery powered apu because you are using no fuel to get A/C. But they are limited in there run time. I met someone that has one and they carry a small generator to charge the batteries and keep it running if the batteries get too low.
Clima Cab makes a really nice system...
I ordered our Slush Busters last night and am making plans to get an Espar heater this year.
Chains stay in the truck and most of our winter clothes are still in it from last year.
Hopefully it will be a mild winter.
I received an email (spam) from Panther today offering $1000 sign on bonus for a van.
It says it is only for the next 30 days, so all you van guys call right away.
I was in Palm Bay, Florida installing windows in a new home.
We heard it on the radio and thought that air traffic control had gone nuts and was directing the flights into the World Trade Center.
Finished the job and rushed home to watch the news on TV.
A very sad day for the United States.
I agree, but the carrier has a CSA score also and just because the driver leaves any violations he has accrued stays on the carriers record for (I think) 2 years.
It would be in the carriers best interest to have qualified and safe drivers in the seat at all times.
When we passed our CDL A...
