    Question about winter driving

If they do you need to find a different company. Most companies safety department and safety policy is that safety comes first. You are the Captain of the ship. You have to make the decision if you can drive safely. Everyone's skills and experience levels are different. Better to be late than...

I need some serious help here Ladies and Gentlemen!

FedEx bases there times on 47 MPH. We drive 62-64 and stop every 150 miles or 3 hours to do our freight securement check. In 3 years we have 100% on time pick up and delivery. If you are running that fast and are still late there is something wrong with the way the times are being calculated.

    Recorded phone calls

I learned a couple of days ago that when we are put on hold by our carrier the call continues to record. I just assumed that when on hold and I am talking to my wife that we are having a private conversation. Not so, everything you say is being recorded and when they have to go back through the...

Which carrier would you not lease on with??

I was going to say the same thing. The first time I was put on ignore or bumped out of my board position because I turned down a load I would be gone.

Which carrier would you lease on with??

Who is this mythical Carrier B that will sign on a surface expedite dry van with no lift gate for $1.80 per mile? If there is not a company that will pay that rate why bother using them in a comparison. It seems to me it's just a comparison between reality and fantasy. Let's use...

    Flat Rate vs. Percentage Pay

The flat rate at FedEx is for a basic surface expedite truck. We get more for pallet jack, lift gate, HAZMAT, IAC, driver protective service, WG, DoD, etc. There are no WG trucks running flat rate (as far as I know) so a comparison can not be made to your trucks running Elite. Since going on...

    Flat Rate vs. Percentage Pay

But DAve, you have a higher rate than Panther is offering to new contractors. At $1.49 per loaded mile (the current offered rate) the total pay would only be $656. Which would only be $1.19 all miles.

    Flat Rate vs. Percentage Pay

What works for us on flat rate may not work for others. We hate to sit. Our goal is to run our miles to make the income we desire and spend our time sitting at home enjoying the other side of our lives.

    Flat Rate vs. Percentage Pay

Panther is currently advertising $1.49 per loaded mile including fsc, plus fuel from dispatch location to pick up.

    Flat Rate vs. Percentage Pay

No. A percentage truck would go to an express center that dispatches a lot of freight. This morning we delivered in LaGrange, GA and went to the Pilot 3 miles away. We were in the Columbus express center. Our dispatcher will deadhead us (at full pay) to the freight. Had we been a percentage...

    Flat Rate vs. Percentage Pay

Who's paying $1.80 for a surface expedited dry van? Panther is at $1.49 loaded. Express 1 is at $1.41 loaded.

is fedexcc who I should be with?

Call Panther and see what they are paying currently for new contractors. Ask for loaded mile and deadhead pay. I was told loaded is $1.49 including FSC and deadhead $.41. Figure a 1000 mile run. 800 loaded and 200 deadhead. 800 x 1.49=1192.00 200 X .41=82.00 Total pay=1274.00 $1.274 per...

    Frustration

If your load cancelled you should be on dry run status. You move to the top of the board regardless of dwell time or if there are others on <75. The only ones ahead of you would be someone who also had a dry run before you. If you are not on dry run status call a dispatcher and find out why.

    Pilot vs TA fuel

T/A or Petro average 9.5. Flying/Pilot average 9.1. Howes Meaner Cleaner adds about .5 MPG to both. And my fuel filter stays cleaner with T/A fuel.

    FDcc flat rate?

I think they have around 80 trucks.

    FDcc flat rate?

With over 1400 trucks in the fleet I don't see how an owner with 80 trucks would be able to demand preferential treatment at the Fed. We worked for that owner and I can tell you we never got any preferential treatment.
