Should I look at load boards instead of signing wi

RE: Should I look at load boards instead of signin boards are not going to pay as well, or be as consistant as regular expediting companies. If you aren't an expert at how the boards run, I wouldn't take a chance at them. You'd be better off trying to win the lottery.

Be careful what you ask for

Did you get paid for two loads or one since you made two p/u's? personally, I would've taken it. If it was FECC, I would've immediately started beating it across I-10 towards Houston or Dallas. If it was a tri-state company, I would've eaten the miles and be happy... unless the rate stunk. So it...

need help finding someone to drive for

try reading the classifieds here. There are plenty of owners looking for drivers. Just make sure you both make some money for the owner, and make sure he pays you.

Hey RollinSt8, Your friend was far off from the truth. There's alot more that goes into expediting than just holding a steering wheel. It takes an understanding how your individual company works, where the frieght is, how far is too far out of range, how much you are REALLY making with each...

    Express-1

mhoy40, I can tell you first hand that they're the real deal. I just got back with them and started running this past week. They'll keep ya busy. I can't wait till I can afford more trucks, cause I know right where to put em. And their dispatchers rock! :D

    Journal of an Expedite Driver

Have they revamped their pay scale? I remember it as a D unit getting .80/mile a number of years back, though they had tons of loads. When fuel was 1.00/gal this could work... but not now. Also, it seems they've cut back on their trucks (either voluntarily or not) as there aren't as many sitting...

No forced dispatch, what that really means?

Very well put! The only thing I can add is, sometimes the dispatcher is in a jam to get rid of a run. Maybe taking that run will get you a good run later when you're not due for it... who knows. I've heard of backstabbing dispatchers who suddenly forget your favors, but I've never had that...

    Thanks for all the help!

Roberts Express did that to us all the time...told us we were late. Made me want to rip the computer out and chuck it in a corn field ;-)

    Thanks for all the help!

There's no big deal about hazmat to Canada. If it's flamable or explosive, you take a ferry. It takes longer, but customs there is usually much easier to deal with.

New Hurricane headed for the US

I know...he's the cause of all our woes. He did this, he did that, if your wife is cheating it's with him. I heard it all before. Go rent Farenheit 911 and praise it like Mein Kampf...they're both the same thing... propoganda (documentary indeed)

    Fuel Prices!!!!! This is terrible.

When has anything the big three done make sense? You're forgetting where expediting comes in, Ateam...ppl screw up. Throwing it on an LTL truck and not having it picked up for a week or more is usually not an option for hot freight. So, I doubt it'll be going down because of fuel prices alone.

    Definitely better than expected

Leo, that really sucks!!! Someone spends that much on a truck only to watch it start to fall apart. Ya think quality control means something. Good luck on getting things done quickly so you can get going. I know the bills don't stop because the truck is.

    Fuel cards

Has anyone tried to get a fuel card from a company like Wright Express? If so, do you find it worth having? Was it easy to get?

    Fuel Prices!!!!! This is terrible.

I like the idea of the espar, but it says it has a small draw on the batteries. I would like a generator that doesn't draw on my batteries, has air and heat, and has outlets. Does anyone know of where to get a used one? I can't afford 7,200 for a new one... though I'd get it if I had the money.

    signing contract

I totally agree, Mrs... I'm tired of competing with people with more skill, younger, etc. I know expediting, and after 4 years out, I decided to get back in... but as an o/o. I spent a month looking for ways to get a truck, and I found a guy looking to get rid of his. It's costing me some bucks...

How much are fuel taxes and...

some of that info should be on your fuel receipt... state fuel tax, road usage tax, federal tax, etc. If you want an individual breakdown on which states get what money from the fuel tax, that should be on your cab card.

Help finding a good expedite Co. to work for

You could try air freight. Running local with them, I doubt they care if you have a cdl or not. It's not the idea that his slate is clean in Dec 2004. They ask a question on the app : Have you ever had your license revoked or suspended. He lost his for two months. With his reason why, I doubt...
