    Freightliner highway robbery!

Larry, I think that's a great idea! Tom... glad I could be some help. Your idea has alot of merit. I hope it doesn't step on toes of advertisers here, but in the interests of helping each other out, it's a necessity. T-Hawk

    DIS-Orientation

I may have misstated my point. I am not against orientation, but I don't think they need to be that long. My orientation was 2 days and it was very well structured... all time was accounted for. But I've heard about another company who's orientation is 4 days. I think that's pushing the...

can a desktop computer survive the road?

I agree with Raceman's driver. Bungee cords are essential. Also, some kind of stiff padding, such as styrofoam, to go under both the case and the monitor. And, of course, get an optical mouse.

    DIS-Orientation

Are the feds the real reason that orientation is that long? Or is it because they want you "brainwashed", per se, into their system? I was there, No Problem, and I miss those days when orientation was a couple hours to a day at most. They still went over logs, and got in the qualcomm and such...

Are you going to EAT that???!!!!

Oh boy!!! This topic is mine! :D I love Open Pit BBQ sauce on macaroni salad. Ranch dressing and picante sauce on hotdogs. Mac n cheese mixed with tuna and onions. Grilled cheese that happened to have some ham, bacon, extra cheese, and a fried egg sneak aboard with mayo and hot sauce. Once I...

    Proper use of brakes

Wow, this is a good post! Here's something I've done, and it's worked every time. At 65 or so, put on the cruise and head on downhill. All the way down Jellicho Mtn. (I-75 @ KY/TN border) the truck never got above 68. Never had to use the brakes. T-Hawk :D

    Freightliner brakes

Mine does the same thing. Once I hear the pop, though, my brakes lock. Luckily, I'm almost completely stopped when that happens. I agree that you have to put more pressure on them, but it's a fine line till you get the pop n slide.

    O/O revenue and drivers pay

No Problem, With 50%, I'm talking that I am paying fuel. I see no way that I, as an O/O could make it on that scale. Fuel is 1/4 or more of my money...truck payment is another big chunk. I am an O/O for one reason... the same reason Ford and GM and every other business is in it for... to make...

    O/O revenue and drivers pay

I could almost see that if fuel were .85/gal again. But again, who's working for whom? Paying over 50% is rediculous IMO. Like I said, bonuses should apply if a certain quota is met. But by all means, paying someone as you would a partner isn't the answer. 35% is the going rate because of supply...

    O/O revenue and drivers pay

Very easy to say that O/Os should give drivers health benefits. Truth of the matter is, the drivers don't work for the O/Os... they are their own small business. Health benefits are for employees, unless you get medicare or pay for your own. Want more money? Do more work. When I put my driver...

$1,000,000 question. What Company is best suited f

RE: $1,000,000 question. What Company is best suit Leo, I understand your enthusiasm with Express-1, but like you said... you're a single driver. Singles and teams are apples and oranges. Some companies are good with apples, and some with oranges. If you're lucky, yours will be like a fruit...

    FAST

Very simple, Hoppy... If you still want the thrill of expediting, but can't go to Canada, go with a company who doesn't require you to go. There are a few out there. Express-1 comes to mind.

    Going another route

No... he was from the week after, I think. Nice truck... just guess he'd rather put more fuel in it for less $/mi. I haven't had much time to sit either... except in Syracuse. But on my way back from there, I got a run out of Erie as soon as I passed it. Didn't even get a chance to shower LOL

    Going another route

When I was at Express-1 headquarters this week, I met a semi driver taking off his stickers. He had only been there a week and had given up on the idea of expediting. I asked him why, and he said: "They got me down to NC and I sat there for TEN HOURS!" He told me he's just too anxious to be...

    Generators

Does FECC require you to have 13,000 available for freight? That seems a bit high, as my truck weighs 20,000 with 1/4 tank, and has a GVW of 32,000. I like how Express-1 does it. For a D-unit you need a 20' box and 13k capacity, but they let me by. I think most trucks push that 20k empty range...
