    Standard Mileage Deduction

With a D Unit I claimed 100% of the miles. For my personal vehicle I claim about 50% of the miles since I use it to go to and from the truck, buy truck supplies etc.

    Standard Mileage Deduction

I run a D Unit. I have always taken the mileage deduction vs operating and depreciation costs. Audited once , no problems..Only thing is if you start out with a mileage deduction on a particular vehicle you cannot change horses in mid-stream.

I know that no one can give legal advice

I have been a S Corp for over 12 years. The Tax savings are well worth it.I was audited by the IRS in 1996 and came out clean as a whistle.. As too liability I am a Officer of the Corp,50% shareholder,on the Board of Directors\and also an Employee of the Corp. There is a real gray area as too...

    Personal

BP and DD nice touch guys, lots of class, and no mention of litigation that other forum members have threatened when a post doesn't go to their liking, 2 adult men realizing that we are all in this together.

    Lift Gate Safety

Well I will put it as simply as I can without 22 bullets. KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS and work within them. Only handle the freight when you KNOW you can do it safely,if you THINK you can do it thats a no-no.

The real bottom line in WG

Just Curious, What Nation do you belong too? A country has finite borders, made up of various ethinc peoples. Generally a Nation is defined as one particular group such as the Cherokee Nation which is located in the Country of the United States. I realize this sounds like I am trying to pull...

    Changes at FECC

Another change that came in the mail today is that new E units joining up will be paid a flat mileage rate for all miles. Right now it's only for new E units but the D fleet will probably get this incorporated down the line.

    can this work for me?

With a paid for truck you should have no problems reaching that goal. What year is your truck as some companies have limitations on the age of the truck. When you better half realizes the potential when operating as a team, it will be more revenue staying in the family.

The real bottom line in WG

There is something else to consider. You run the risk of getting hurt when you do inside deliveries/pickups and lift gate loads. Back in May there was a tragic accident for a FDX W/G driver who as a result will probably never drive again. This happened during a difficult unload. I know because I...

    White Glove

I believe FDXCC is probably running L/Martin and others with old contracts. I agree with Leo,time to put this thread to bed.

    White Glove

Not all W/glove runs will make you a millionaire as a member posted. Certain customers such as IBM, Prax Air,Lockheed Martin command huge discounts and do not pay the FSC. Recently I was in Detroit, was offered a next day pick up in Ontario (206 miles deadhead) delivering to IBM in Brewster NY...

    Idle-Aire a flop ?

They may have gone public since I contacted them but I think you would have read about it in LandLine or some other publication. I am going to re contact them tommorrow. Like it or not anti idle legislation on a Federal level is just around the corner.

    Idle-Aire a flop ?

About 2 years ago I got in touch with them. They are out of Nashville and was curious to see if they were a public company or would issue stock as a closed corporation. They are not public and to invest in them was a minimum of one million. So the rich get richer and the poor stay that way. Lots...

    Idle-Aire a flop ?

Thats why I never signed up.I want peace and quiet,I have seen too may big trucks in the Idle Air spaces that were not hooked up. If they could enforce a no idle rule I would go for it but why pay $1.25 per hour and have to listen to a reefer running 2 feet from your sleeper.

    White Glove

DD#2 for what it's worth I guess I am in the minority.I just try to do my job with out any high and mighty BS. Some relatively new members to W/G act like they have invented it. They are the ones who brag about thier exploits. Best to you and Mrs DD..

I unloaded at a facility in the Toronto area. There was one of those trucks loading some equipment. Lumpers use pure power with no regards to doorways etc.

    HIT BY 4-WHLR! NEED LAWYER!

I can tell you from past experience FDXCC safety will charge you for a preventable accident on your part.Doesn't matter that you were not at fault or that you did not cause the accident. A couple of years ago a van passed me,hit a van in front of me,did some 360's and slammed into the front of...

It states that from Walmart's perspective "RVers are customers and we are happy to host them them". So if a 40+ footer RV...

    Fun On The Road

One of the pluses of doing this line of work is the advantage of being able to see parts of the USA that you may have never had the opportunity to see. We have spent time at the Grand Canyon ,the Utah Canyons such as Bryce and Zion and many trips through Oregon and the northern California...
