    TriState

The only thing I can think of is that contractors might have checked to see how many other units were in a certain area before accepting a load to that area. That wouldn't seem like abuse to me, just a smart business practice.

    How many have

With the small companies, tokens of appreciation to the owner are always well received, especially if the owner is also the dispatcher. Some suggestions are: 1. gift cards to nice restaurants, especially seafood places, with steakhouses a close second 2. An all expenses paid getaway for two...

    How many have

There might be a problem with giving gifts to dispatchers, but I think that giving a gift to the owner of your company is a wonderful idea and a practice I would whole heartedly recommend. Gift cards to steak houses and seafood restaurants are especially good ideas.

    What Would You Do?

I don't know the situation of that particular company, but recently I have mailed checks to drivers that never did arrive and I know they didn't cash them and claim they didn't get them. We're talking checks to two different drivers that I mailed from the same post office that never arrived...

I guess getting hot and steamy can cause complications.

Paper Shower Mats, A real pain in my rear!

That's what I like about the J, the extra towel to use as a mat. Funny thing though. The one time I slipped and fell in a truck stop shower was at the same J. Must be something about the floors in that place.

    Where are you this weekend?

I'm still sitting at the J in wonderful Deepwater, NJ. I have a load booked Monday morning going up to New Hampshire, actually a couple LTL that are making for a decent rate combined since the expedite was rather slow this week. I've booked quite a few loads, but most of them for other...

    Charging contractors for Qualcomm

Anyone who got the latest Landline might have seen this little tidbit already, but I found it quite interesting. This is from the question and answer section. The reader asked if a carrier could force him to purchase the QC through them and this was the answer. Then the regulation itself...

    Extra Charges

Understatement of the day there. It still beats sitting around waiting on the phone to ring.

    Warning, no cell phone N.J.

You hear people saying that there are more accidents involving people talking on a phone, but you have to wonder if that proves causation or not. Could it be that more people have accidents while talking on the phone because there just happen to be more people who use phone in the car now...

    Extra Charges

As a carrier, I usually pass 100% of most extras on to the driver. It depends on what it is. Things like detention, hand load or unload, or anything else that involves extra effort on the part of the driver should go to the driver the way I see it. These days when I'm bidding all inclusive...

    Sleeper for Sprinter?

Aside from the other advice about this not being the best time to get in, I'll tell you how I fit mine out. I think the setup I have is probably a best of both worlds type of setup. I have the 170" extended. I measured from the back end 12' and set that aside for cargo and built a wall at...

    Another Brilliant Panther Move

I would rather more of those minis got turned down. That leaves more for the partners and I've made some darn good money moving minis for other carriers.

    Ceva Logistics

You find them around airports mostly. I've done a couple things for them, but mostly third party through another broker.
