I get 28 mpg Canadian which is around 23 mpg US. In the winter I loose about 4 mpg as the fuel up home gets real thin. Before FedEx, I had freight that was near 12 feet fairly regularly (that's why I bought the Sprinter). Since coming to the Fed, I have never come close to filling it up. I also...

6080 empty, and it took a lot of work to get it that way. When it left the dealer it weighed 5580. I can get the req'd 2500 lb but I have to be careful how much junk I put in. Everything I built was done with aluminum or very light wood, and more than a few original parts are now stored in my...

    Canada Hands Free Coming

Welcome to Ontario, the following 18,000 laws were written to make people "feel good" and let them know that their government is "doing something" to make everything "better". Please keep the pleasurable thoughts of these laws in mind as you motor about and realize that they are not really...

Sprinter as a family transport vehicle

For the limited mileage you will run each year ask yourself if the fuel savings are worth it? The difference between 15 and 20 mpg for that mileage is 333 gallons of fuel a year, At $3 a gallon that is just under a thousand bucks. With that number in mind, ask yourself how much extra will you...

You are exactly right OVM, the cost benifit ratio on such a project would be pretty shaky. The 3500 rear end is very narrow, you just don't have a lot to play with. You can do anything with unlimited funds but for what gain? And why did this thread get my name put on it????

2500, plain automotive style rear end (press in single outer bearing, hub part of axle shaft), like a car or a half ton. 3500, full float axle shaft, hub on spindle type rear end (like a real truck). 2500, and 3500 rear axles share no parts. To keep the weight near the centerline of the hub...

A load going to the track......cool. If you are going into the track for the delivery, remember you gotta go in off of 394. The front gate on 11E is all blocked off. I won't be there today, I gots to take Mrs. Piper shopping:rolleyes:. Not much going on today anyway.

Maybe a million dollar idea.;) The amount of offset required would add a significant load to the outer wheel bearing in the hub (the axle is very narrow). The other thing is you need to almost completely eliminate the width of the inner dual, which wouldn't leave you with much room to super...

3500's are under 48 inches at the wheel wells making it pretty useless to haul skid freight on the floor. The solution is to put in a new floor above the wheel wells, which kinda defeats the whole extra height of a Sprinter thing. I believe Greg has the measurements right.

Piper will chime in with numbers after he has a nap......and drives to Tennessee. But Piper will chime in. I can tell you it's a penny a mile just to pay for the oil changes on the engine alone. Ken, what does 28MPIG convert to for a US gallon?

    Canadian Health-care system Imploding....

Of course the doctors think it is imploding, they want the government to throw more money at them....um the system, they mean the system. The sky has been falling on our health care system ever since I was old enough to watch the news, just like the "study" that gets put out every 2 or 3...

    Canada cargo van and Scales

If you move the tires and rims out on a full floater axle (which the 3500 Sprinter has) you will increase the load on the outer wheel bearing by quite a large factor and it will be at risk for failure. Something to think about before you go to any expense to do this and move the wheel wells out...

    Fear sells

Just when you are told the sky is falling and the end is near, look outside, things are generally OK. Remember when everything wasn't automatically a "crisis" on the news? Fear sells in a world of info-tainment, I doubt there is any unbiased news left in the world.
