Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

You are correct as well, and not just Hino's. Your 99 was built for performance more than emissions....it's the other way round now for sure.

Winter, straight truck starting problems Hino specifically

Newer trucks can have lower compression ratio's to help deal with NOx emissions. Lower compression ratio's in a diesel will make it start harder in the winter.

Canada My last trip to Canada was my last trip to Canada

Did you declare the smokes when you went IN to Canada to Canada Customs? If you didn't that is likely what tripped them up. Canada and the US share an awful lot of border data and if you didn't declare the cigs on the way in...the US guys likely figured you bought them there as there was no...

    van line haul distance

Not exactly what I was asking eb but your answer actually frames a better more relevant question, like you said, how do you know before? My original question was inspired by a guy I met who said (with a serious face) that he knows he is tired after he has hit the rumble strips 3 times. Some...

    van line haul distance

    T boon pickens Idea?

T Boone has lost a lot of his credibility once his investments were exposed. You can wrap yourself in the flag and promote natural gas all you want but when people find out that you are the one who will profit from it you just look like any other lobbyist. CNG is a great idea in some...

    van line haul distance

Leo is right, most of us on here would likely be considered the top of the heap and would be professional enough to know when to say when. I have swapped with guys from my own carrier (we have a rule) that have been so poor at managing their sleep they look stoned after 300 miles. I don't want...

Is your company really smart? Are you?

Anyone can doubt my experience or intelligence, but the above post is exactly what I wanted to say...and I'm pretty sure no one can belittle the source or his experience level. Thank you for the post John.

    Your/Our Freedoms are dwindling...

Don't blame us for what you have now...we didn't elect him;) We still have a Conservative at the helm (a good one at that!) I'm waiting to see the whole story, was this just an over zelous stupid cop or was the driver being an idiot and the cop did what cops do when you are an idiot to them...

Is your company really smart? Are you?

Ya I don't know what my carriers costs are...but I do know what mine are, and I f I think the freight is cheap why can't I complain about it? Why can't any of us complain about it? If the carrier can bid low, get the run and maintain THEIR profit at OUR expense why can't we complain about...

Is your company really smart? Are you?

I can't give you a legitimate rate because as I posted in the other thread, I have no idea if the customer is a quick payer or if they drag it out, nitpick on their bills, do I have to spend a lot of money to get my money (sending originals in overnight etc). Does my company have a lot of cash...

    Current Rates per Mile

FedEx will outsource for various reasons, some of which have nothing to do with if they have any of their own folks in an area. If the load is low priced, and FX cannot make what they feel is an acceptable return on it after they pay their contractor, they may outsource. If the load is going...

    Current Rates per Mile

No, I don't care if it pays $500 a mile, my talk of too much weight for a van is based on safety and nothing else. I see guys who take these 3000 lb loads in their Sprinters and vans. Combined with all the personal stuff most carry they are over the GVW limit for their van. Some care....others...

    Current Rates per Mile

We get paid a flat rate of 85 cents plus a Fuel SurCharge (FSC) that changes weekly based on the EIA Nat'l avg for diesel fuel. It brings you fuel operating costs back to $1.20 a gallon based on a 15 MPG van. We get FSC on ALL miles authorized by FX. The flat rate thing, while it has been a big...
