    Introducing FinanceGuy

That's what's wrong. To think someone will take a 25% loan on anything is rediculous. Buying a truck or any other high dollar piece of equipment should be looked at the same way a Mortgage loan is. That's just my opionion. Think about how many of those loans are out there and someone who has...

    Chicago Tolls

I was actually born and bred in Chicago's near north side. I got an E-Pass in 1964. LOL! Actually I ran the Kennedy expressway before it opened and was dirt in some parts. Made it from Park Ridge to down town in 20 minutes and I don't think I was speeding. Wait I think there was a Chicago...

    Landstar taking on penske vans?

True unless he hauls regular for them. There are still some customers that won't load a truck w/out company signs. One of mine is that way.

    Landstar taking on penske vans?

Could have been an Agents truck or running for an Agent. You don't have to be leased to Landstar to haul their freight. You can be an approved carrier, get on their load board, pull for an Agent or both. If you can get a good relationship going with a couple of L/S agents, they will run you...

Aside from the argument w/Ken your statement about oil all over the engine told the whole story. I would make Kenworth pay and fire the mechanic. Got nothing to do with the dip stick. The shop should not have released the truck until it was fixed.

Yeh that's hard to do. 5/8 wrench maybe 3/4, remove from pan, replace with new part. I wouldn't take a lawn mower to that place.

I agree with the pre-trip end of it but the shop should have checked the problem. Turbo's are cooled by oil. It's supposed to be checked by the mechanic to make sure the cooling line didn't break and loose oil or the when the Turbo went south it didn't send oil out the exhaust. To many dip...

    Hail damage

My insurance carrier does not raise rates on a comp claim. I think that's industry wide but not sure. I would surely call them and get the facts after all thats what you pay them for. As far as value on the vehicle if you repaint it, really doesn't make any difference since your mileage will...

DRW Box Van under 10,000K and DOT?

Like Chef said sooner or later. My advice is if your going to buy a DRW truck you may as well buy a straight truck. Cost of operation, Max Weight, etc, etc, etc.. If you are going to pay $32k for a truck look at the Independence model Ultra max w/srw. 13' box and can carry about 3K p/ld and...

    Landstar Agents

They are more diversified than most and they always pay. My only complaint is they will charge you for everything they do, no freebies. They're freight base is other than automotive. They do ship Auto but not as a primary. They are big into government and defense. They are well known...

    Landstar Agents

They are independant (work for themselves) representing L/S. Shippers call the Agents for a truck. Shippers are their customers. Most successful L/S agents work on inbound freight, but can go anywhere. They have no area. Several cities have several agents. That has changed somewhat but I...

    Landshark

Way back when I was owed $8500. dollars from Midwestern Transport. I was in LA on business and went by and about an hour later had a check. Should have cashed it right then because when I got back home they cancelled the check. He went to jail for something else so I guess he got his in the...
