Last Week....Where did the Freight Go?

Been good to me since the begining of year , but then again i've only went home 3 times ( 4th. next weekend ) and kept myself available for freight.

I had a terrible week also ran 1317 miles loaded and empty and only got $3k to the truck and the miles were from wed to saturday and 2 runs. seriously to many idiots hauling cheap freight around. I was in indy and the rates were all $1 to $1.50 for TT. I got lucky I guess and got a load from indy to ayer, ma at end of day thur for sat am delivery. I am sure the van, sprinter, and straight market is filling with cheap freight haulers also since I see some super junky small trucks lately with magnetic signs and or no markings at all.

Luckily my 2 loads were super light and I drove slow 60 to 67 so fuel mpg was up there in my large car. I was getting 7.5mpg not bad for a triple digit truck with a 53' dry in the heavy winds past few days.

Curious, if Detroit and Chicago are small freight markets, what cities do you consider to be large freight markets?

April:

16 loads
16,011 loaded miles
1,698 dead head

All at full contracted rate,
Plus subsidized dead head, bonus rates, stopoffs, layovers.

I have two C/Vans and a TT/Team heading to Seattle then back to SC.

This week is starting off well so far. Picking up a load going 731 miles with a 94 mile dh. Then after we drop we have a 350 mile run with a 60 mile dh. Can't complain.

The first load we got was a 60 mile dh on a 30 mile load...lol. needless to say we turned it down.
