    Some honest questions about FSC

There is a lot of talk around here about fuel surcharges and how much a driver should get, etc., so I have some questions to bring up just to see exactly what the expectation is. 1. If a carrier is obligated to pass on a surcharge to the driver, is a carrier obligated to charge a FSC...

How many staying out and running over THanksgiving

Last year my wife and I wanted to go to her Aunt's house in Houston and I snagged a Tuesday pick in Indy delivering Friday in Laredo. Paid for that trip nicely. There might be some stuff going then.

O/O running for more then one carrier revisited

Legal issues aside, and those are very important issues, we also need to consider whether or not this kind of thing is actually a good idea. How does having more than one company looking at the same freight increase the chances of getting a load? I don't think it does, and here's why. You're...

    Daily log book for iphone

What are those kinds of requirements going to mean for small companies like us? I don't think the government is going to be giving away those devices and we're watching every dime to try to keep overhead at an absolute minimum so we can still pay drivers a halfway decent rate and still make a...

    This Could be Big

Just my .02 regarding miles. Address to address is fine and dandy if you have the addresses. In some cases when you're bidding on freight, all you have when you place the bid is the zip codes, with the exception of NLM which gives you the addresses before you're awarded the load. When you're...

Drop in Freight the past couple of weeks??

Tell me about it. The last weeks have been pretty bad and I think it's more frustrating now trying to book people than it was trying to book myself. Some of our units have done pretty well, but others have been a real struggle to book. The funny thing, though, is that the people who have...

    Panther safety exaggerate

1200 miles without a brake? My Sprinter only goes about 500 miles on one tank of fuel, and since it's impossible to fuel without slowing down to a complete stop, I think it would be completely impossible for a cargo van to run 1200 miles without a brake.

    All State Express

As much as I've had issues with ASE, I have to defend them on this late paperwork charge. As a carrier it is absolutely crucial to get paperwork in on time. Brokers will delay payment if invoices aren't received quickly and there is nothing the carrier can do about it. Imagine if carriers...
