I can't take the looser losers anymore!

Their, they're, there. They're different words. Learn the difference. Plurals don't get an apostrophe. There are too many cars on the road, not too many car's. They, them, their. Those are plural and not to be used when referring to a singular subject.

Who do you drive for and why?

I drive for my wife now...hauling loads of groceries and the occasional purchase that won't fit in the car.

What Do You Do To Earn Your Pay?

Yep. When I was driving I wanted to get to certain areas that are always profitable, so I would sometimes bid whatever I needed to get a load going there because I knew I was going to make it up coming out.

    Quailcomm or blackberry

I'm looking at the title of the thread and wondering what quailcomm is and why a truck would have need of a device to communicate with birds.

Coming to a carrier near you - EOBRs

Well, somebody has to pay for it, and with profit margins as tight as they are right now I can see that being passed off on drivers eventually. If the company pays for it, we need to get a bit more money on enough loads to cover the cost and it's hard enough to get a good full rate on anything...

Coming to a carrier near you - EOBRs

Who is going to pay for these things to be put in the trucks?

    who is slow

Yep. If I bid enough to pay $1 to every Sprinter or similar size vehicle even when the freight called for a cv, I wouldn't win too many of those loads.

I need a driver agreement to look over.

It's been my experience that a lot of drivers think they're lawyers. :)

    DeMaris Transportation

Considering the source, I'll take that as a compliment. In all honesty, I try to do everything I can to be fair and up front with drivers, because if not for them I wouldn't have what I have. I also have some good people helping me out on a daily basis. Coming off the road was a major...

    Regular CV freight vs. Sprinter

Just being able to stand up to put your pants on is worth it.

Which carriers allow you to haul for others?

That's where factoring companies come in. The only way a small carrier can pay drivers in something resembling a timely manner.

    Driving for Multiple Carriers

Getting your authority really is the best way to get loads from multiple entities. If you're running for more than one, all the companies are bidding against each other for your vehicle. That doesn't increase your chances of getting the load, only that it will go for a lower rate. If you have...

Are rates for the truck or the load?

Well, I'm primarily taking about van vs. Sprinter and not as much the straights. If I bid a van load for one of my straights I normally just bid my full straight truck rate. There are times though when a straight truck driver will tell me he wants out of a certain area and he will take a van...

    Re:CV rates and logging

Re: CV rates and logging How people do it is one thing, and it's not that hard, but whether or not it's a good idea is another question altogether. Most of the time it just means that multiple carriers are bidding against one another for the same van and the rates are driven down as a...

Are rates for the truck or the load?

I've been reading on here and hearing from drivers when I was on the road that they expect a certain amount for loads based on having a certain type of vehicle. These are normally people who drive cubes, Sprinters, Aerocells, and other types of non dock high vehicles with higher capacity than a...

    Mexican trucks........again

Safety concerns aside, what would an influx of Mexican trucks do to the rates? That seems like a pretty big concern to me.

    Places you hate to go

Ford in Claycomo. Every part of the country has its good parts and bad parts and I always found some enjoyment out of any destination, but I have no good memories of that Ford plant.
