when should you refuse a load?

rucan...send me a pm with some information on your situation. As a Canadian doing this the rules are different and how you haul into the US can really affect your profits, an awful lot of what you read on here just doesn't apply to the world you have to live in.

    Married solo drivers

Have a cheap cell phone plan, use things like Skype or other video chat services and go home every so often. If you are passing thru while loaded, get ahead of the clock so you can meet for a quick lunch and still deliver on time. If your spouse supports what you are doing....you figure out...

    Advice on a 2003 Sprinter....

Asjssl says "do the math"....OK 100,000 miles per year and $2.80 a gallon for fuel Ford at 15mpg = $18,666 in fuel Sprinter at 20 mpg = $14,000 in fuel "The math" says Sprinter savings $4,666 a year. Can a Ford get better than 15mpg...sure, but so does a Sprinter. 20 is the LOWEST I get...

    New lease agreements?

If we can scan documents (customs stuff or BOL's) then I won't grumble about the extra cost, however...if the big selling feature is GPS and the ability for FX to send out "videos" instead of mailing CD's then I will detest seeing the extra $260 a year being paid as the benefits to me will be...

Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

My apologies for the bold type....I was having to much trouble separating the quotes....a skill I still for some stupid reason have yet to master.

Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

Guido, I think Team C's point was that the "numbers" are different for everyone and that they should know "their own" numbers and not rely on what someone else has told them. I can assure you, Bob and Linda know exactly what the numbers are for THEIR operation.

Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

And if this happens Greg...you move on. If your acceptance rate falls below what the carrier thinks is acceptable, and most give you a pretty good latitude, YOU as a BUSINESS, are partnered with the wrong carrier. If I open a store selling widgets at $4 and all my customers come in and tell me...

Have the fuel filters been replaced recently...maybe they should be. Again I ask, you said it's in an FL70 (an older truck) yet the engine you said had 8000 miles on it. Is it new or does it have 800,000 miles on it? If it is older, the HUEI Pump advice from Team C is very valid.

State Highway patrol * help numbers

Recently on a trip through Ohio there was a car in front of me that the driver was either drunk or suffering some kind of medical distress as he was all over the road, shoulder and median. I called 911 to report it and got a local fire dept operator who had a bit of difficulty getting the info to...
