what do you want santa to bring you?..ho ho ho!!

RE: what do you want santa to bring you? You have GOT to be kidding me.. I guess I do TPS (third party service) loads for both FedEx and Landstar, among others. I wondered if there was no truck to cover the loads or if their own drivers didn't want to take the loads for whatever reason. It...

    the pitch

Here's a goodie- Thompson Emergency put a flyer on the driver door of my truck this afternoon in Stoney Creek, ON. Door-to-door recruitment?? At first I thought it was a parking ticket. Whoever did that is lucky they didn't wake me up}> -Weave-

what do you want santa to bring you?..ho ho ho!!

RE: what do you want santa to bring you? I'd like a new pimped-out $90,000 Freightliner FL70 from Alumi-Bunk with my all time favorite 3126 CAT and 7 speed Spicer. Then maybe, just maybe, I could call mystelf an expediter.:* (And if I put one of those satellite TV dishes on it I would be an...

    Your average week

I run solo also, almost no auto freight. The funny thing is my weekly figures sort of "jump all over the place" too. It's hard to get an average. Freight is sort of like an on-off switch with no in-between. -Weave-

FDXCC Year 2000 Annual Gross #'s

Now, come one, come all.. FedEx CC D units... How many of you are averaging $1.44 per mile loaded? Maybe, and only maybe, White Glovers?? Doubtful even still. I ran solo with them early last year. Here are my figures: (And I did do some hazmat runs for White Glove- FedEx CC actually loved...

    Good bedtime reading for you!

I have always liked this manual, and it is good to look at from time to time even if you have a lot of experience. I remember getting my first copy at orientation at FedEx. C&M just sent me a new copy. "A Business Manual for Owner-Operators." Published by Overdrive and Volvo. Available at...

    Question for seasoned Roberts/FedExCC'ers

OK, I have been looking through a LOT of past postings. Not that I'm bored, just wondering why you seasoned fellows who are currently leased to FedEx CC don't have much nice to say about them. First off, I was leased to them at one time so I somewhat know what I am talking about and feel I can...

Used Truck Values? Is there a Web site?

RE: Used Truck Values? This was more or less what I have found talking to the dealers. There are so many used/repoed expediter trucks on the market now, that their value has nothing to do with what the book says. It's supply vs. demand and there is too much supply, thus they totally lowball...

    FL70 - Lights Out??

Crawl under the truck, under the sleeper, and make sure the black ground wire going to it is connected and tight. They come loose esp. on Alumi-bunks. I suspect it was loose and arcing, causing the fuse to blow. Now it's probably not contacting at all. You will be fighting shorts and opens...

Used Truck Values? Is there a Web site?

RE: Used Truck Values? It's not Kelley or Edmonds but www.trucktraderonline can give you a good idea of what your truck is worth based on what it is and how it is equipped compared to other trucks on the used market. It would be too difficult to make a "book value" on a straight truck due to...

    DC Inverters

Beware of cheapo inverters- They can damage delicate equipment such as computers and printers. I highly recommend Statpower inverters. Worth the little bit of extra bucks.

    Using Snow Chains

As far as a single driven axle D unit is concerned, if the truck is loaded and equipped with agressive treaded drive type tires, snow chains are not necessary. The weight on the axle with these tires, provided they have deep tread, will give the best of traction in the snow. NOTHING will get...

    why all the security

I remember getting a laugh out of the FECC security when I went there for orientation. Having been there, I think Wild Bill's thoughts were right on the money. When I ran at Thompson, they did not let drivers enter the dispatch room as most of the dispatchers were jerks and I'm sure were beat...

    Good-Bye to Our Dear Friend......
