I don't know if you've ever seen him on youtube... the Bayou Gardener. His tomatoes get so big down there, he uses concrete welded wire mesh for cages. If the trellis fails, I'm going to try the welded wire. These dinky cages just don't work for me.

Just finished planting tomato seeds. Going to try this idea for supporting them... Planted cukes and greasy beans in peat pots. I don't like those things, as they suck up all the water, as soon as I pour it in, leaving the ground hard and dry.
