    put up or shut up!!!!!

Good posts! My question would be, "Who allowed the undesireables into the business?" As a former VP I always told my staff that the success of our company was based upon the decisions that management makes. If I make good decisions, hire the right people, protect the sanity of the current...

    Canada PARS AND TRANSPONDERS

Thank you Highway Star, The carrier is willing to install a transponder on my van. What is advantage of having the transponder? Does the shipper usually fax the BOL with the PARS barcode for the driver? If I have to fax it myself is the broker's info on the BOL or is that something handled...

OIL PRICES WILL FALL, JUST HOLD ON

I saw gasoline at $1.96/gallon. Diesel was $2.39. Oh, and as far as your premise about it being an election year and a resulting downward trend in fuel prices, if that were the case then the pharmaceutical companies, the insurance companies and the physicians (All who are accused by whiny...

    bEaGLe, new rules and procedures

exeglair, I also have worked for some organizations that seemed to always be in a constant state of change. Change is OK as long as it is for the better. Unfortunately, many of those companies were simply changing to put out the fires of mismanagement, not change for the better, or progress if...

OIL PRICES WILL FALL, JUST HOLD ON

Well my friend we just had a missionary from the U.K. visit our church. He had to park his little tiny Morris and start riding a bike. Just as many other Brits do. I actually lived in Swindon just outside of London and I had bicycle when I was there. Gas was always double when compared to what...

I get so p-offed..... WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR?

Fuel dropping off (a decrease in the price of fuel) at this time of year is quite normal. A quick review of the data from previous years proves this fact. The summer driving season is over! That accounts for a huge reduction is gasoline consumption. RV's get very poor mileage as do those...

Are you true owner operator? with FCC

I know this is going to come as a huge shock to most folks, but GOD has no use for unions! Their collective murmuring and complaining is clearly addressed in the Scriptures; therefore, it is not my opinion, it is "What saith the Lord." Mat 20:2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a...

FedEx Changes Deadhead pay and FSC

Any carrier that pays a "Flat Rate" FSC is pocketing the difference. That is a fact! Rates do fluctuate occasionally, but for the more part they remain fairly consistent. For example, when my FSC's are running between 21 - 30 cpm and I get an offer that only pays 9 cpm I might possibly take...

    Propane in the truck

I have a Coleman heater. I also have a CO detector. The alarm has never activated when using the heater. The door seals in general and the loose fit of doors in particular on any GM, Ford or Chrysler van provide ample air exchange. I can see daylight along the bottom edges of my rear cargo...

OIL PRICES WILL FALL, JUST HOLD ON

The Energy Department said crude supplies rose 2.4 million barrels to 332.8 million for the week ended Aug. 25, contrary to expectations for a decline. Motor gasoline inventories stocks rose for a second week in a row, up 400,000 barrels to total 206.2 million barrels. Distillate supplies...

FedEx Changes Deadhead pay and FSC

Why change? Why would a carrier reduce the FSC, knowing contractors would complain, and then increase the rate? Personally, I believe it really comes down to marketing personnel who waffle when selling service to shippers. Properly presented you can sell value; regardless of the FSC.

    Somebody stole the flying J

What's up with these Pay-To-Park lots? I hadn't been in the Chicago area before last week and dropped off above Joliet. I stopped at the Clark Truck Stop on I-55 and I saw a sign in the auto lot indicating that I would be paying $6.00 to park my cargo van out front between 12am and 7am. The...
