    Axle weights

It is a pusher axle. I do sometimes haul very heavy but not that often. I would be happy to give up a bit of hauling capabilty to solve this. If I could move the batteries to the very back of the truck, there are 6 of them at 70lbs apiece, it might help some. I am not sure about moving the fuel...

    Axle weights

I bought this truck used so I don't think Alumi-Junk will do anything for me. I am thinking about moving a side box as suggested. I would really like to move the fuel tanks or batteries but I think that would cost me a ton of money. I guess I could just buy full size tires for the lift axle and...

    Memorial Day

We are in Kentucky. We delivered here on Friday and have a Tuesday pick-up here. We are doing the tourist thing. Going to Mamouth Cave and Jim Beam's. I will say a special prayer in church today for those who gave thier lives that I might be free. I will say thanks that my dad made it out alive...

    Axle weights

I have a freightliner M2112, 96" Alumi-Bunk sleeper. My problem is I am close to or overweight when empty. When we got the fine for the overweight I was only carrying 200lbs and it was loaded almost at the back of the truck, behind the rear axles. I know where my axles are and load my freight...

    Axle weights

I have a lift axle, we are always legal when it is down. There have been times that we are over without it. I guess the only way to be sure is always run with the lift axle down. I guess this is another reason not to buy another Alumi-Junk truck. We live and learn. My next truck will be laid out...

    Axle weights

OK, I have my "H" rated tires on now. I am still pretty close to max weight on my steers. That is, if I am figuring it right. Tires are rated for 6610. Do I multilply that by two to come up with my max weight? I have a 12,000lb axle. What can be done to lighten the front end or raise the...

    Gps ?

We run Delorme on our laptop. No truck routing but it only costs $60 or so. We bought a GPS module from a place in California, cost us $100. We put our routing in based on our carriers suggested routing and ALWAYS cross reference the drivers road atlas. We have not had a problem with bridges to...

Our last load the clink claimed 450mi, Delorme said 450 mi. We ran 453, couple of stops in there. This one was close. layoutshooter

Do you use a Fuel Supplement

I am very worried about gelling. Maybe too much. I noticed my fuel getting cloudy at around 30 this fall before I started with my winter mix. It stays clear when I use the additive. I still am not sure about how all this works. Layoutshooter

    Don't be stupid (II)

The last chapter in my stupid tire trick. Belle Tire in Allen Park MI called and set us up at a tire shop in Kansas City MO to get our "G" tires swapped out for the "H" tires I paid for. We got that taken care of yesterday. No problems. Anyone can make a mistake, it is how they take care of the...

    Very Disappointing numbers

Slow down? Our numbers are up for the year. We are averaging 25% reefer loads. We are TVAL but have not run a TVAL load as yet. Just had the TVAL for a couple of weeks. Don't know what else to say about it. Layoutshooter

We have found it to be off from time to time. Sometimes longer sometimes shorter. I think it has something to do with how FedEx figures things, must be new math or something. Seems to be evening itself out. We will keep closer track to see what is going on. Layoutshooter

    2007 business class m2106

Slowing down is the ticket, or no ticket may be better. We try to stay between 57-62mph. We get between 9.5 to 10.8mpg out of a MBE4000 with 450hp. Best we have ever done was 11.7mpg. Layoutshooter

    Question for teams.

Glad to hear my fan problem is helping you stay awake!!! At least someone is getting some good from it. I normally do the pick-ups and deliverys. Driving skill has little to do with it. My wife handles most of the paperwork and helps with the navigation when we get close. It is a pain to watch...

    Sleepy ???

This business knows no work hours. You just run as they come. When we are running we normally run 24/7 till we finish the load. Most of our runs lately have been in excess of 1000 miles. That requires you to run round the clock in most cases. I don't understand the 7900mi thingy. We seldom run...
