    Werner Fleet Trucks

The truck we just got out of was a '98 Werner Century stretched D truck. Overall, the truck was decent for being 8 years old. I've seen a lot of former Werner trucks out there. Apparently they're a good buy.

The president’s speech about high fuel prices

RE: The president’s speech about high fuel price Being one who voted R the last 3 elections, I'll have to agree with you. Guess the oil empires' contribution to Dubya's coffers have paid off BIG TIME! Now, they have a collusion and ain't nuthin the boy will do to stop it.

    1099 vs. W-2

Keep a seperate file for each driver. Copies of everything owed goes into their folders. I wouldn't go the W-2 route unless you're planning on them being employees. A 1099 is easy to figure out, and the correct form for independant contractors anyways.

I need back up lessons on a semi?I will pay. GA

RE: I need back up lessons on a semi?I will pay. G Find an empty dock and practice, practice, practice. I know 90 degree is a pain, and you may need help to figure out the basics. In that, I agree with Vipra in finding a school instructor to help you.

    Handicapped drivers

Dawgone... I thank you for proving me wrong. I could see you having a sticker AND be DOT qualified. Hope you're doing well now. I'm just trying to clarify the need for handicapped spaces in truck stops vs. car parking lots. I doubt there are many truckers who need them, yet I usually see 4...

Hidden message to me is, the immigrants aren't happy like they were when they first came here. Now they're talking about unions? For illegals? geez

    200k Gross?

I'm going over the figures FX put out for solos. 117505 miles 155 loads taken That averages out to 758.1 miles per run, both loaded and empty. Something doesn't seem right. Either the loads are way too long for solos to do legally, which I doubt. There is a ton of dh involved with each and every...

    >How many look for their own loads? I did run independent for awhile. There may be a time where I decide to do it again. >How often do you look? I still look every time I'm sitting somewhere I have little hope of getting out soon... ie, Texas. >How much time should i give dispatch to find a...

    Handicapped drivers

Have no probs with drivers having a handicap. My problem is with there being handicap parking spots in a truckstop. With the shortage of places to park, why have areas we can't use when tired? I'm trying to think of actual handicaps a trucker could have, that would deem it necessary to have a...

Canada What's up with the new forum?

I haven't been to Canada in a truck for nearly a year. I miss it to a point. Toronto is a pain, but there's a smokehouse on 401 near Woodstock that just makes me melt. I miss the truckstops, the ppl, and just the country in general. Kinda feel lucky I married a Canuckian and can get back there...

    Where Are Van Drivers

I'm not a van driver, nor do I own vans. I have seen owners post for drivers on here from anywhere between 40%-no fuel to 70% with. 40/60 and 60/40 is the going rate for d-units, I know. But wouldn't you think it's a little low for vans? Being that vans probably avg around $1000/week, that's...

    DUTY TIME ON DAYS OFF

There's no rule saying you have to have DOT numbers on a truck. You only have to if it's commercial. If you're doing personal things with the truck, then it's not commercial. If I'm not mistaken, liability covers it in case it's being utilized for non-commercial use.
