    It’s 2018. Come on In

Piper1 Tech Tip of the Day. When crawling under your truck to do small parking lot type adjustments or repairs... Check for ants first. The orange/reddish ones do not like it when you are in their space....and will let you know it.

    Continuous DEF Problems with Sprinters

That statement right there proves you don't understand how an emission system works or whoever you are talking to doesn't or you aren't understanding what they are telling you.

    Continuous DEF Problems with Sprinters

"he common problem of the particulate filters only lasting less than half there expected lifespan before having to be cooked off because of blockage on the face." Well aware of that...still has nothing to do with DEF...the system that is AFTER the particulate filter I "Googled it" and the...

    Continuous DEF Problems with Sprinters

If that is your attitude when you walk into a shop...you will get the go away type of answers too likely. The guy on the shop floor at the dealer (or Engine dealer) has likely had dozens of hours of training each year for the past 10 years or so..just on emissions crap. He also (unfortunately)...

    Continuous DEF Problems with Sprinters

Well...I thought I was being nice....anyways...here goes. The only "DEF heating process" is the small heater in the DEF tank that thaws frozen fluid...that's it. The "excess carbon"...I'm assuming you mean particulates or soot...that normally builds up in the DPF is burned off in the...

    Continuous DEF Problems with Sprinters

Kevin, no one disagreed with the sentiment of your post...that these systems are trouble...what was called into question was your technical reasoning. I am a fully certified tech and while doing expedite I still work with some fleets on their maintenance issues. DEF has nothing to do with...

    Fan clutch reefer

Might be helpful if you narrowed it down a bit beyond "reefer". There are a few different models and even manufacturers out there...and they don't all build them the exact same way.

    The cost of staying warm

While Espar of MI is certainly the Cadillac of installs, there are lot of cheaper options. I can't speak to the current Espar product, but if you are at all mechanically handy, a Webasto is a super easy install yourself.

    The cost of staying warm

Espar and Webasto both make excellent and completely 100% safe gasoline fueled units. Your "dealer" is a dummy or...didn't have a gas one to sell you.

    Cargo Van Truck stop news

The J fuel stop (or it's employees) in Mississauga (west Toronto) is doing the selling spots for local drivers thing. Considering there are only about a dozen or so spots, they are almost always gone. Also, if you do find an empty spot you will very likely find someone blocking you in when you...

    Fuel Stats 2015 Transit

Isn't that a wonderful coincidence....your lowest MPG occurred at your highest PPG. Nice stats Moot.

    2017 MB Sprinter extended warranty

Whoever is doing your Webasto install....if they are cutting fuel lines on a new Sprinter to feed it...they don't know what they are doing and the resulting fire ball will likely clue them in.

    The cost of staying warm

It amazes me the number of folks who don't have an Espar or Webasto. In a van the payback can be in as little as 4 months... Even faster in a bigger truck... And that's just in the fuel savings let alone the engine wear and emissions junk. They last a LONG time and need very little maintenance...
