Who rides with you? Puppy, cat? Monkey?

My Co Pilot and road buddy is my Female cat named Sandy. Rides well, likes it up on the dash watching the traffic and senery go by. She is a rescue, a very young stray I found at a marina near Detroit in 2005. I had just bought a yacht on Ebay and was running it back home. The cat followed me...

    Nervous newbie

You guys made a smart move IMHO. You got out of a bad area and will be paid to get closer to home. Hopefully all goes well with the truck recovery and the company appreciates and will remember what you did for them. Just to compare experiences. A few years ago I had just finished orientation at...

We have all been there. Question is, why are we still here? Either we like it, or we are just a glutton for punishment. Frankly, I'm just jealous that you are getting laid in your truck. Us single, owner ops are not so fortunate. Lucky bugger... And she knows how to run a truck... Sent...

Keep in mind that when you put your dollies legs, or Jacks down before you are loaded, the weight of the load may make it difficult or impossible to crank them up again. Keep a close eye and leave a bit of play between the Jacks and the ground to allow for raising them after you are loaded. You...

    Rate per mile?

You need to get your feet wet working for an owner that's leased to a known company to prove yourself before Anyone will let you haul their cargo. There is simply too much liability involved to go off half cocked in this industry. Sent from my SM-N910V using EO Forums mobile app

You are being smart about it and as long as you guys come up to speed fairly quickly, everything should be just fine. I hate truck stops, they are gross. .. Too many PIGS with very little courtesy or thought for the other guy IMHO. When I have more time, I will tell the story of how I got...

Sorry I misunderstood your question about how many miles ... Again, it depends. Some can be like new with half a million miles and some are worn out dirty, stinking rattle trap heaps of crap. I ended up with one of the neglected ones and cleaned, fixed all the issues, spent too much money and...

That depends on several factors of course. How well rested you are, anxiety and stress level and how well you handle it. Traffic and worries/ issues with the truck can wear you out Quick. .. I have anxiety, stress and pain issues, so I know how those things affect me and sometimes it's hard to...

First of all, you guys are doing great in the face of some adverse and unusual situations. .. I swear by Loves for tire issues, most locations have computer balance and the crew does a great job. Balance bags and balance rings WRECK tires and are a waste of money IMHO. The fleet owner I bought...

    Rate per mile?

I have been working with someone who has their own authority and I now know I am getting ripped off and they are keeping most of the money I earn for them. I'm done. Load One or CM. Neither one pays anything near what you describe but at least I can make a living.

    New to Straight Trucks

If you continue to drive local until you are 21 and have your Class B CDL with air brake endorsement, you will find that this site is a great place to find an owner to drive for, provided you have some experience that is verifiable. Just look in the classifieds under driving opportunities and...

    Rate per mile?

Wow. If I had refused loads that paid less than 1.55 I would have been out of business within the first month.. . Never saw that rate in a year with current company. At some point, I hope to find a carrier that pays 1.55 for a box. Wishful thinking?

That's a big bite out of your pay for sure but the good news is that it's deductible as a business expense. I remember Panther class a few years ago, lots of little surprises there as well. I did not stay long, the owner I got stuck with was Horrible. .. You got lucky for sure and I hope...

    Rate per mile?

Thank you, that's all I'm saying. Attitudes and egos were never my favorite things to deal with. Living a good Life and making a living in a way that does not have a negative effect on others has always been my goal. Just a humble man trying to make a living and trying to make a better future...

That worked out Great for you guys! Time to get used to a truck without having all the pressures of doing a load right off the bat. Pay attention, listen to the sounds of the truck, the feel of it in general, learn where the blind spots are, how everything works, stuff like that, so when you get...

    Rate per mile?

Hey dude, the shooting myself in the foot crap is uncalled for! The truck broke down, I had no choice but to take time. Stuff came up that caused delays in the interm. Your opinion is, well, your opinion. .. Everyone's situation and perspective is different.

    Rate per mile?

I have been with the company I am leased to for one year. Been OOS to do truck repairs and deal with a health issue. Will be going back in about 10 days and plan to stay out until late December. Will continue to look into other companies that pay a higher rate and am considering going to Load...
