Cargo Van vs. Van w/ Box Unit

Bigger is better, and about 8 foot of sleeper, now your talking! I heard of a driver a few years back trying to convert a Greyhound bus into a "C" unit. So you're only limited to your imagination and of course your wallet! Have fun and keep thinking up creative ideas.

    Good Team Truck?

What year is the truck and what goodies does the sleeper have? Refrigerator, sink, toilet, bunk beds, TV, stereo? You see what I'm trying to get at here? Most teams like a 84 or 96 inch condo style.

    Most intersting Load so far?

I transported years ago a freezer full of vials from patients with AIDS, each vial represented a human being. It was a very difficult load emotionally. All the patients had died. The next shipment was a body that was a research project for the Einstein Institute in NYC. My labor was 3 guys from...

Tractor & Pup Vs Straight Truck

That would make an awesome "Super D" unit. You could go to a 20 foot sleeper and a 27 foot reefer pup with liftgate and have a really slick piece. Down side would be getting into some tight spots just like a big rig. Also the jack knife factor would be something to consider. Maybe a set of...

    Super Singles

I ran super singles on a Peterbilt 377 back in 1987 and I loved them. The down side is a flat tire, and replacement tire when and were you need it. Luckily there are'nt that many tire sizes. Weight savings will be about 150lbs. for 4 tires with aluminum wheels. The other thing that was unique is...

    BEGGARS

Great posting! Our decision to give or not to give is based on our gut feeling for for what we see and feel at the moment. There are people who truly need all the help they can get. Unfortunately we would never see these people as there mental condition would'nt allow them to create this type of...

    What is the standard practice?

I assume you are refering to trip leasing? In any event you need the permission of your lease carrier and the company you are tripping with must be approved by your carrier. The other problem might be cargo liability as neither your existing carrier nor the one you are tripping with will be...

    Pain in the knee

Several of the truck manufacturers have come up with the extended cab version of there standard cab configuration. Thes include Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner and my favorite Volvo. That extra 6 inches or so make all the difference in the world. Good luck and as I've said before, drive that...

    Airtabs

I know of several trucks that are outfitteed with Air Tabs and they work. Not a huge gain, 1/4 to 1/2 mpg and keeps the back of the truck cleaner. Go figure, a product that actually works, amazing!

Straight Truck or Tractor/ Con-Way NOW or Landsta

RE: Straight Truck or Tractor/ Con-Way NOW or Lan Just curious, why would you want to go with Lanstar as a single Tractor/trailer? Why not just lease on with Landstar and go trucking? As a single you'll be a lot happier. I believe you should do a bit more research on expediting. This may not...

    Fuel at Indian Reservations

If your not paying fuel tax at your company I would certainly buy the most cost effective fuel with good quality you can. In winter time especially you don't want to save a penny to find yourself froze up on the side of the road. Sometimes you do get what you pay for. I have in the past bought...
