    Turri Transportation and Logistics

It's been a little over one year since we joined the EO community. It's been great participating on the boards and reading the goings on in the expedite community, and meeting all the great owner operators and fleet owners we would not have meet without EO. Thank You Expeditors Online!

Implications of new 34 hour restart rule

Some of our dedicated trucks and team operations are going to have to deal with this issue right away. Yes I was using the extreme circumstance, I'm sure there are situations we are not even considering yet with this until we all actually put the rule to the log book. Good points on that 30...

Implications of new 34 hour restart rule

Not true according to the new rule. If you came in service 0700 on a Monday morning, you could not take your restart untill 0100 Tuesday morning the next week being you can only take one restart every 7 days, and you would have to wait until 0100 Tuesday due to the new rule stating you need two...

Implications of new 34 hour restart rule

Two drivers driving around the clock will both hit 70 hours in 5 days. They would still have to wait two full days before being able to take the restart.

Implications of new 34 hour restart rule

Per FMCSA website: Under the new rule, drivers can only one 34 restart in 168 hours (or 7 days). Must have two 0100-0500 periods within your 34 restart. So in other words these 168 hours are consecutive hours, no more taking your restart any time you want. One could work 5 full 14 hour...

    not all doom and gloom....:)

I quoted the FMCSA website directly. One restart every 168 hours (7 days = 168 hours) That's how I read it....and yes it sucks the big one! That's why I said I don't think folks realize the true impact of this yet. They cleverly worded the rule. So in thoery one could hit 70 hours in 5 14 hour...

    not all doom and gloom....:)

As I understand it, you could not take the 34 restart until Monday using your example..one restart every 168 hours or 7 days according to the fmcsa website.

    not all doom and gloom....:)

One could hit 70 hours in 5 consecutive 14 hour days. Under the new rule you would have to wait until day 7 to take your 34 restart with two consecutive 0100-0500 periods. So in thoery as I read it, on a good week you would work 5 days on 4 days off. Someone correct me if I am not understanding...

    not all doom and gloom....:)

Agreed Even teams have to stop for.30 minutes in the first 8 hours and are going to be hard hit by that restart rule.... I don't think the impact of this rule is hitting home yet. It will when the drivers are down for 3 almost 4 days waiting for the consecutive 7 days to restart after a good...

    not all doom and gloom....:)

A rise in rates will happen, I agree with the author...rates are slow to react to market changes. He did leave out the fact that productivity and revenue will dip on a per unit basis being less time per day/week to drive and that horrible 34 restart rule. That restart rule is going to really...

    Back soliciting

Na It would be very easy to prove if you hauled for a.broker on Sylectus then backdoored the account under the guise of "its just a big 3pl". You said it yourself you see and haul those loads from Sylectus. You found out who owns the freight from the BOL and back solicited the account...

    Back soliciting

Say you get a load from a broker that deals with one Lanstar branch all the time. Sure you could call corporate, but you would never find out where the freight is coming from unless you solicit the agencies directly or backdoor your broker giving you these loads and with some research found out...

    Back soliciting

Depends on the language of the contract But if you gained knowledge of the freight opportunity by doing work under contract and you start hauling directly for the customer....yes thats back soliciting

    Back soliciting

This is backdooring!!! Your not going to get very far in this business if you follow this practice. Best to find your own freight! Brokers have contracts in place to protect themselves It's unfortunate but carriers backdoor all the time, if you gained knowledge of an account from a...
