New Express 1 Truck Lease Program

I KNEW there was something Leo and I agreed on: See Leo's 3 rules!!! As to the sleeper size, a 48" is cool IF you are only going to be in it for a few nights a week. My truck has a 51" sleeper and for the runs I do (out on Monday and usually home on Thursday) it is just right. If I was...

    Air Ride suspension

Greg, Virtually all class 8 highway rigs are rear air ride equipped these days. Front axle air ride is being seen, somewhat, but they're going to be more common as time/technology marches on. Edit: '99 International 9200 10wheeler Rex

To Those Who Drive Night Shift....

When I was a Co. driver I had a lot of overnight runs and I always did a post-trip at the end of the run or the end of the driving day. Never got any grief from the Co. or a couple of scale stops. Rex

    falling out of bed

Sleepers are required to have restraint belts on the bunks, and those sleeping in the sleeper are required to use them when the truck is in motion. Rex

    anyone ever maxed out?

I have had my 26' box packed so tightly that I had to break away part of a pallet slat to allow me to get my door closed. That was 8 hard top kits for Jeep Wranglers...load weight: 3048lbs. I have also had 10 pallets of anti-freeze and a couple of other lighter items that had me less than...

    My first D.O.T. Inspection....not good

Like Broompilot sez, the DOT guy is just doing his job. (Good to see you've made it back, Broom!!) I got waved over on I-95 in Joizy Wednesday morning. After going over all of my paperwork and doing a Level 2 inspection, the officer asked if I wanted to have him do an under-truck inspection so...

IIRC, it's 55 or 56K GVWR and up. My 10 wheeler is plated for 46K, so I don't really pay attention. Rex

    Single axle tractor-Baby8 Puppy

There is an O/O running for the Co. that I lease to that pulls a 28' trailer with his FL tractor. While a lot of the expedite Cos. might not be interested in this type of unit, I think that there are opportunities out there if you look "outside the box". Rex

    CDL License

oHIo, for example, gives you 30 days to get a new CDL (or a regular operator's license for that matter) and new vehicle plates when you move here. I think (but call the local BMV to be sure) that you go through the same hoops when moving to a new state as you would for a regular renewal. Also...

    Sometimes you have to wonder

I've gotta agree with Moot, there's something missing in this story. Wasn't there a BMV employee in the Chicago area busted for "selling" CDLs a while back? If I was one of the affected drivers, and I had a legit CDL, I'd be getting in touch with a lawyer, PRONTO!! Rex

    Now THAT'S an engine!

We would use a hand held mechanical tach for the oil rig units. The very effective governors for the EMDs were made by the Woodward Co. of Colorado. They dislike being over revved.....very large reciprocating components like to have their limits respected!!! Rex
