    Advice please

Since you are already logging, it would be better to get a straight truck, under 26001 GVWR with hydraulic brakes so no CDL is needed, and maybe a liftgate (although there is much debate on here as to wether a liftgate is feasible or not). You will have more load opportunities both going out...

    Expediter Truck Fail

Actually I would love it if this was the way school buses were made. That way they could stick all the little bast......er I mean little darlings in the box so they could not annoy the driver

    Vans/Sprinters ONLY

I noticed you lumped the vans and sprinters in together. So what happened to getting a "C" rate for that third skid on the sprinter??? Has that all gone by the wayside now??? No carriers paying that "C" rate for the 3rd skid??? Except for LetzRock, and I don't know what he's driving,I didn't...

    About That New iPhone....

LOL! Nice con job apple! Telling everybody that there's nothing wrong with the phone it's the software that reports the signal strength. So how come so many people could make calls from the same locations with their old phones but keep losing reception with the new 4G????? This is a perfect...

    hitch receiver bumper

That is indeed a good idea. Here's another: When loading, always leave your vehicle in neutral with parking brake on. Nothing will ruin a tranny faster than being constantly jolted while in park. Even if the forklift doesn't actually hit the vehicle, just the motion of being loaded can cause...

    THE DCAs OF EXPEDITING

Hehe, and I'm sure you will do your best to make that dispatcher know in no uncertain terms that they owe you big time and that he or she will have that next cherry already picked for you if you do this crap load for them now right??? All part of the love hate relationship isn't it?

    How foolish some members are....

A post I made some time ago has some relevance here I think. http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/general-expediter-forum/33131-panther-holding-back-o-os-6.html#post267521

    Striaght truck which one?

That's one more issue that should be mentioned. Whatever engine you get, make sure it is a "wet sleeve" design, that way when the time comes for a reman, it can be done inframe. Much cheaper and quicker. I think most newer engines are of that design now, but it is worth mentioning.

    Expediter Truck Stop

No offence to the original poster but this really makes no sense at all. It's just not financially feasible to make the same kind of investment today to build a truckstop for a specific segment of the motoring public and exclude everyone else. It just won't wash plain and simple. What really is...

    solar van

Hey Dan, Have you given any thought about how you are going to access those panels to clean them off so they stay as efficient as possible? If you are at home then obviously you can use a ladder but I don't think you will be carrying one with you on the road? It's ok now but what about...

    22 vs 24 vs 26 foot box

How many times have you wished you had a bigger box? Obviously a bigger box in general means more opportunities ( within reason as it is dependent on your carrier and your market to some degree as well), but this question may be more relevant now with companies like Fedex and Landstar...

    Autoshift annoyance

If this is the ZF transmission they are well known for either not going into gear or even popping out of gear at the most inopportune times (like when you need traction). I don't know the reason, it could really very well be the clutch brake as you say, but it is a pain. Other than that...

    Panther holding back O/O's

So it looks like you have two types of operations: a) Capitalist operations: Throw everybody to the wolves and let the strong/smart survive (my preference) b) Socialist operations: Hold everybody's hand so that everyone shares the wealth no...

    Canada Last minute help please!

All commercially licensed drivers in ontario have a cvor. There are two cvor's 1) your drivers 2) your carriers You do not need to go to the mto for anything. Your carrier should have you listed as a driver under their cvor. If you get a drivers cvor abstract it should show the carrier you are...

Canada Expedite companies in Canada - information

Thats great info! Thanks for making the effort to dig all of this up, not just for your own benefit, but by posting it here for all to read. I have been a possible wannabe in this field for some time now and have been looking at most of the companies you have mentioned. I was not aware that...

    Newbies at Landstar?

Hi All! Just curious, has Landstar changed their policy regarding only taking on experienced expediters? The reason I'm wondering is, since they are co-sponsoring the expediter workshops advertised here on EO, I have to assume they must be willing to, or are they just there to court those...
