I knew there were many small companies. My real goal was to see how many posters were of that persuasion. Many who visit this forum are considering expediting for a career so its important that they see that there is more than one way to skin the cat, I mean, move the freight.
That van reminded me of this one...very pretty but I agree that you can haul the freight in a less expensive vehicle and pocket the difference. I could not imagine taking one of those into a coal mine, rock quarry, etc.
Thanks for listing the changes over the years. I have only been expediting since October so it is very educational to see how things were compared to how they are now. Could you please now give us a look 5 years into the future? :)
It is possible to fit three standard pallets in an extended van if you put two of them in "sideways". It makes it a little trickier to get them out but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Speaking of which, about a week ago I delivered in Chicago and had to hand unload 72 boxes...
When you set up your account with Corporate Lodging you give them your credit card information. This includes expiration dates whether you use the service or not. I initially had misgivings about giving the card information. This is offset, however, by the convenience of not having to give...
My first time using the card I had a reservation for the evening but I was delayed by a freight mix up. I called to say I would be late and the hotel said "no problem". I checked in at 9:00am and checked out the next day at 7:00 am and was billed for a single "night". What I learned was...
Many vans and pick-up trucks have a button with an image of a trailer on it. If you push the button a light comes on reading "Tow/Haul". What else changes?
Brett Favre was traded tonight to the NY Jets. Wouldn't it be great if they turned around and traded him to Minnesota? Not saying it would/could happen but what if?
I don't see where the carrier name should have anything to do with it. You have a relationship with CLC and they are the ones that should have the relationship with the hotel.

craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums
I have had a lot of luck buying and selling on craigslist. Its free so what have you got to lose? Just don't take any money orders for the truck!!!!
The runs you are seeking are out there. I just got back from one. Pickup in Warrenton MO and taken to the FedEx depot near the St Louis airport. Its not really a profit maker for me but it keeps the customers happy so they call back with the long runs next time.
To make your business plan...
Update: Just before time to go play poker my boss calls. It was not to wish me a happy holiday. He had freight. Luckily I was able to pick up the load near my house and still make it to the game. I won $170. The delivery was a pickup tonight/deliver in the morning deal so I was in Hannibal...
