    How To Log Trip?

You don't have to log this trip as driving, but as on duty not driving. The reason for this is that you are not currently a commercial vessel. This is a private vehicle that isn't leased with a carrier. As far as the DOT is concerned, you're on vacation... though you'd want to be truthful about...

    Is there a good answer

I see her point though. She's looking at content. And if she walks in on bickering, all that she would see in the archives is garbage. Besides... you don't have to ask questions to get answers here.

Announcing... Conan is my new burglar alarm for my

RE: Announcing... Conan is my new burglar alarm fo He's an Irish Wolfhound mix. Honestly, I would love to take him with me, and he'd love to go, but he doesn't want to go to the bathroom while he's on the road. He went on a 800 mile trip (with a stop overnight) and didn't go once. Besides...

CN, you are in the right place. Usually, it is where you can find info pertaining to the expedite lifestyle, truck issues, or anything like that. If you have a topic you'd like to find out about, you can use search to find it. I've used it to look up everything from the 3126 CAT engine to what...

Announcing... Conan is my new burglar alarm for my

Jan.1, 2005. I have decided to make my dog, Conan, my new alarm system for my truck. He has a loud bark which intimidates intruders and lot-lizards, though he'd eat anything you give him (unless it comes from the buffet). Formerly a guard dog in my yard, he was moved to my truck after digging up...

    Backhaul Blues

Here are some more blues... runs to the east coast where the dispatch says, "freight is hopping out of the east." My driver gets there and it's all dead. Then, he tells them the Monday before Christmas he needs to be home on Wednesday. Well, he gets to Nashville and they offer him a load to...

    The Mother Load's here!

Generally accepted conclusions are the status quo. Wasn't it you who said to think outside the box? Touche :P

    The Mother Load's here!

Yeah, I'm a skeptic... especially when someone's telling me they're doing 4% dh among other things. Call it WHINING if you want, Weaver, I call it an opinion. I'm just trying to save a few newbies some grief. And I'm surprised at the other "veterans" because I know most of them have seen a song...

    The Mother Load's here!

Anyone who succeeds has my blessing. As for what you're dishing out, I have this quote to counter yours... "He who buys need one hundred eyes. But only one's enough for those who sell the stuff." Ben Franklin

    The Mother Load's here!

No Problem... if I remember correctly, a couple of months ago you were crying you couldn't make a couple of runs with Express-1. Now all of a sudden, you're saying you've been preparing for lean times 4 to 5 months ago? Seems to me something's fishy here. Irregardless of the screwed up time...

    Which is the better truck?

One other thing... the front axel on the KW is going to be way heavy. And a longer nose isn't the best thing on a straight truck. A T-600 is better because the nose is shorter and sloped. Are you limited to those two?

    Owner financing

Hi Frank, How would the deductions go if I'm buying equipment with owner financing? My current truck is owned by someone still paying it off. I'm assuming I can't deduct that one cause he is. The second truck is owned outright. Thanx T-Hawk

    Digging in here and learning!

Dave, if you thought OTR was a hassle, just wait till you get into expediting. The slowest time of the year is coming up for the business. The best thing you could do is find an owner and jump in someone else's vehicle. That way, you're learning and not losing money. Then after awhile, get a...

    Newbies and the truck search

I would recommend that you put in fridge and microwave, and leave room for all the other toys. Give the idea that they CAN expand with your truck. That's the way I'd want mine... usable, yet simple enough that I can customize the rest myself. Of course, then you have the made to order group...

    professional occupation or no?

Come on, Preacher... now you're preachin. You're going after something that may not be an option. But even to the ones where it is an option, I'm not going to walk up to them and start taking stuff off of their plate till just the peas and carrots are left. That is their business. Only thing...

    roller floors

If memory serves me right, the C-5 is the length of 3 football fields. While in the Marines, I was based at Stewart ANGB, and those things were MONSTEROUS!!! Our C-130s looked like toys next to them. Anyways... both the C-5s and the C-130s have the rollers, and I doubt the loadmasters could get...

    professional occupation or no?

Preacher... hate to say it, but you're 1/3 wrong. You can wash away dirt, but I don't see many Jenny Craigs on the road, so you can't really jump on the bigguns. Besides... they know the best places to eat ;-)

    professional occupation or no?

Ya know... sometimes I wonder if the dirty truckers keep the funk so the dock ppl will get them loaded/unloaded sooner. I can imagine one going home to the wife... "Gladys... runs me a hot barth. I've beena putrid fer 7 weeks n 7 days. But lets eat first."

    professional occupation or no?

A-team brought up a good point. Is it possible to be an unprofessional professional? I would argue yes. I'll give the driver his nightly leak on the tires, but that's going to the ex"stream". ;-) Unprofessional truckers are what give us the stereotype that we're the trailer-trash (no pun...
