    Sleepers - What am I missing ?

Used straight trucks without sleepers tend to have low miles and are dirt cheap, while the sleeper ones have a ton of miles and they hold their value so much better. From this thread, it sounds like it would still not be worth trying to convert a standard straight truck into a sleeper truck...

    Another Fuel Savings Device?

That sounds awesome and would would be well worth it if it works. I would need to research it more before getting it. Although it reminds me of the 1980's water injection system they used to sell at Murrays Auto parts for $20, and I did find that it worked. This new one is much more...

You said it better than most that just call it gross. I didn't think those numbers were revenue before expenses because they are so low. Actually the teams are even worse when you divide it by 2. Once you take away expenses from those numbers you are better off being a company driver.

    SOLO

I may be wrong but I would think a smaller company would have more deadheading and less reliable miles, although the smaller one is probably the one that told you hometime would be 2-3 nights a week.

    Home modifications for trucks.

BTW, I justed pasted the truck picture to see how it would look parked at the side of my house. It's a 15' cube cargo van, not a camper.

    Home modifications for trucks.

You think it will really mess up the look of my home? Somehow I picture it as not looking bad, and not very noticeable. I already have a 4 car garage so I would rather not build another one.

    Home modifications for trucks.

Has anyone modified their garage at home to fit a larger truck in? Originally I bought 1 foot higher doors than usual at 16' x 8'. Now I find if I want a big high Sprinter or a 12' cube the doors are just a bit short. This would be cool, replace one of my doors with a 16' x 9' door and make...

    mileage on used trucks

Here's one with 461,000 miles for sale, still in good shape. Although I don't know how much more you can expect out of it, but who knows it might go to a million miles. Don't click on the link, you need to copy the whole link and then paste it for it to work...

    Miles Per Gallon (From Mileater)

3500? Would you even consider a standard rather than an extended? BTW Taking my time to consider options, no decision yet or changes.

    mileage on used trucks

I've looked at a lot of cargo vans 2002 to 2004 GMC 2500-3500 and it seems very common to see these with 285,000 miles being only 3 years old. These go for anywhere from $6000 to $10,000. What do you think of these? Personally I have put 300,000 miles on just regular GM cars and then sold...

    Miles Per Gallon (From Mileater)

I went looking at some specs at Motor Trend and noticed a 2002 GMC 2500 can load about 400 more pounds than a 2001 GMC 2500, the 2002 GMC 2500 has a payload capacity of 2947. This gets closer to the 3700 pounds payload of the GMC 3500. Compared to a cube van it is just 300 pounds less payload...

    Cube vans

I have been considering a GMC 3500 15' cube van at 10k GVW or a regular 2002 GMC 2500 extended cargo van. The payload of the cube van I'm looking at is 3250 pounds with a nice 15'x 8' flat cargo area, the cargo van is at 2947 pounds payload with room for 3 skids. Still no decision yet. Any...

    Miles Per Gallon (From Mileater)

You may be right about that, I have no way of knowing the requirements of having 4 wheels back there. All I can go by is the weight which is the same as the 12 footer with two wheels back there. I went to look at a GMC penske 15/16 footer, the thing is huge. No decision yet.

    Miles Per Gallon (From Mileater)

I got some more specs for you guys. The yellow GMC 3500 with a 15' Morgan box has a tare weight of only 6750 pounds. This is only 250 pounds more than the 12 footer and the same GVW. If I remove a couple wheels from the rear axle it should narrow the weight difference to 200 pounds and reduce...
