    Which Straight Truck?

LOL...Greg, they are cramped.....you do get used to it, but when I test drive another unit...It gets me to thinking...... But is the money there???????? I am Company driver...at .49 per mile with OD at .065 (WHEN PULLING AN OD LOAD ) and fuel bonus of .065.........which is easy to...

    Which Straight Truck?

Hey BlueJay... You drive the same unit I test drove....and I'm glad I am not the only one to feel cramped in it. You know, I really love the KW300 and Pete 330/335's...but the cab is sooooo tight and cramped. I was wondering if it was just me! Your 8.2mpg is a bit harsh, the unit I test...

    Which Straight Truck?

Thx Bluejay... Is that a 330 or a 335 Pete in your avatar? That what you run? If so, how's it working for you and how is it spec'd? I test drove one in Detroit, a 330 that is, ...it was a 10spd Cummins 300hp...it was sweet...but a bit pricey for me at this point.....so you are very...

    Which Straight Truck?

True, That is a good point. I am very used to being predispatched about a day in advance while I am out. I supose that is why I'd feel lost with all that room....an oxymoron to be sure...lol Thanks for helping me see it thru your eyes... A-Rex

    Which Straight Truck?

Well, No worries....I have a CDLA, and am a T/T company driver as of now. May stay that way. May just get a Tractor of my own and pull a carriers trailer. Or get a decent straight....if I can find one. One thing I know for sure....I don't need an RV type straight...even 72'' is a bit large for...

    Which Straight Truck?

Thx Dakota, So on an expediter straight, what would you...or any other O/O expediter consider to be the best HP/gear/rear axle ratio combo for optimal fuel mileage and hauling capibilities? Which expedite trucks are considered class 8's.....I apologize for my ignorance, but a class 8 for...

    Which Straight Truck?

Wouldn't mind an FL106..but hard to find. I came across an O/O with a sleek Black FL106 at a pickle park last week. He was heading out, so limited time to chat. Very nice...a 2003 I think he said. Also saw two white FL106's parked at TST yard near the Detroiter TS off 75. No drivers around to...

    Which Straight Truck?

Hey Moose, Thx for the info....When I get back in town, I will call about that warrrenty. So I understand, is the truck running at a higher rpm than is normal because the engine is "tired", and working harder to do the same speed?? Thx A-Rex

    Which Straight Truck?

Hey Moose, Thx for reply....I've been test driving different straights when I am able to, and I drove a 2006 hino on Monday before I hit the road. It was an automatic....which feels strange to drive for me...but it wasn't to bad either, anyway....the truck was gone over with a fine tooth...

    New Panther Lease-Purchase Program

I agree, though maybe if they paid more than $1.40 they'd have no shortage. I was just reading AllState Express ad...$1.60 per mile plus FSC for T/T's.....wait, Do they require O/O's to have own trailer??? Or pull ASE trailer for free?

    2010 T/T Expediters Question

Thx Night..... Good info to know. I teamed in my younger days, and it was too stressful for me. And I have solo'd ever since..., running linehaul wiggle-wagons and for last 12 years with a specialized carrier. Appreciate the info. And knowing that the company that wants to bring me on...

    2010 T/T Expediters Question

Yep, valid points there. This I have learned for the Tractors, now as for CV's....I don't know how owners do it,.... let alone a fleet driver. The freedon would be very cool in a CV....and maybe one day that might work, but supply and demand must be harsh. So any T/T drivers care to share...

    2010 T/T Expediters Question

To all T/T Expediters..... I have been a company driver since 1988 in mainstream trucking, of late I have an "itch" to be an O/O. Mid life crisis maybe?? Anyway...to those of you that switched from mainstream T/T into expedite....could you share the differences and similarities. The...

Hi Frank, Your last line in the above post got me to thinking....... Been looking thru you "per Diem" threads, and haven't found an answer to this question that poped into my head, concerned I have been doing my deductions correctly. If I leave Detroit at 4am on Mon morn, and go to...

    Truck Stop Blimps

I don't think the older drivers have much too worry about...Have you seen the waist lines on the younger guys and gals these days, and the prescription drugs they have to take just to cope. Plus, trucking is hard work.....
