Nothing against the OP but I do the same, if I can take up one of those short spots, I do it so I don't have to take up a main space.
Unless its daytime and I'm lazy, then I park as close to the building as I can. No wonder I'm getting fat.
Yea I'm a company driver and sometimes I ask for more. One time I was told yes and the other time no. It was like free money when it was a yes.
But most importantly, you need to know what your cost to run is, a good rate will be dependent on that.
Everybody's costs are different...
I think an important factor you are overlookingis the OP is ooking to team drive with his g/f.
As a team, they can make more in a ST than they can make in a cv. In a cv, the freight & market is going to limit your miles. Aka there is no financial advantage to having a team in a cv than a...
I started in a sprinter in May and I found July & August pretty slow but I just treated the extra downtime as a vacation, I went to a lot of state parks, beaches & general site seeing.
In September I started driving a ST & I'm glad to have a few months to adjust driving the bigger truck...
lol nope
Well other than life as an expediteris generally pretty boring, sit around in truck, procrastinate doing paperwork, surf the net, watch a movie, get fat.
So having a day with 2 stories is a highlight of the week for me.
Had an interesting 24 hours, dropped last night in Dallas, got aRed Roof Inn (it was recently renovated and once of the nicer ones I've stayed at).
Was sitting on the throne this morning and I look up and see a pretty big bug. I scope things out, see a faceclothe on thetubI can use to squish...
Here's what I would do if I was in your shoes. Your already running 2 trucks, why not work your way up to 4 or 5 trucks before considering going on your own. Then you can put 1 truck on its own and have the other 4 running for other carriers. Then as you build your customer / broker base, you...
We should have a restaurants thread. Like a listing of recommended eateries in a given city. I'm not sure the best way to organize it would be though so it would actually be useful.
Thanks Greg,
That is exactly what Iwas looking for. How hard wouldit be to get a dealership to cover the costs of thetests that yourecommend? Do you have a ballpark figure what they would cost in total?
Also just an FYI but I'm not driving a sprinteranymore, been in a ST since Sept (in...
Did you buy the sprinter brand new and jump into expediting completely unexperienced?
I'd really like to hear more of your story, it sounds interesting.
I don't think I'm nearly experienced enough to think about purchasing a ST yet. But what types of things should I try to learn / keep track of in the meantime to consider purchasing one in the future?
I was comfortable with purchasing a Sprinter / CV because I understand them and they aren't...
Thanks for providing some valuable insight Turtle. I mostly talk out of my *** basing my judgements on generalities.
But when I was in a sprinter, heavy loads were a rarity. What percentage of your loads do you think gross 3000 pounds or more?
If I had to guess, how many loads that I had...
