I'm just not sure I could stand being stuffed in a sleeper for weeks on end that most 22' trucks have. Maybe I am too picky but I need room!!!! haha Seriously though, dock workers will beat up anything no matter what it is if you let them. I am hearing though that the 16' cargo capacity...

I might agree if it was doing delivery work but with that engine.tranny combo I think it could easily handle being driven on the open road, after all thats what RV's are built to do. I know a guy who have a minnie winnie and he puts on almost as many miles a years as most truck drivers and...

Thats a neat idea but I doubt it would haul the heavier weights nor is it dock height which would hurt ya. (Edited: I stand corrected I didn't see the 39C unit. THat is sort of a concept I would love to have. I wonder if the 16' gets any less loads than the 24? Did you see the prices on...

Yes it would and the nice thing is you can pick up an Argosy for next to nothing. But you're right the sleeper is pretty small. Heck 5' you could put a small car in there!

Yeah that is what I would love, a nice truck maybe a international 8600 with a 120" or so custom sleeper and a nice pup on the back. Going to be a little while before I actually buy it as I am in rebuild mode but I think it would be really neat and will be fun to research. Now, would you build...

Well I am guessing you would not be limited to the 40' rule for a straight truck.

    Authority and Carrier

Authority is issued by the federal gov't to haul friehgt in the US and across state lines. Without it, the only thing you can do is lease on to someone. Although with your authority you need much more than just that to run. You usually need IFTA which is for fuel taxes, Insurance, a business...

Seems like a way to possibly get around the 40' rule and still get a nice sleeper. Also might make it nice if you wanted to do any sight seeing while you were on your down time. The disadvantage I have just seen initially is finding a trailer that has the dock height needed. It seems like it...

    cargo van storage

This seems awefully inconvenient to me sleeping in a van like this. Are van drivers out on the road that much they need a sleeper? I thought they were more for local type stuff?

    Getting a fresh start

I saw a neat unit yesterday that got me thinking. It was a 4300 with a sleeper and had a 25 - 30 foot flat bed it was pulling on it's fifth wheel. GOt me thinking about doing the same thing but with a 24' trailer maybe? Like having a E unit but on a smaller scale!
