There is a charity out there that helps trucker families with these situations, but for the life of me, I cannot remember their name.

IMHO, "a few loads" doesn't provide enough information to make an intelligent decision. I would stay with the devil I know and run comparisons on the loads for the duration of my current contract.
That way, I can better prepare for what's ahead.

Yes. Just a bunch of hoops they make you jump through. I have my attorney in the loop already and hopefully it won't come to that. Being a 3 billion dollar company ( revenues), they are self insured. We'll see how this all pans out.

Waiting on estimates to repair my reefer box after a JB Hunt driver decided to take out the rear driver's side corner with his intermodal trailer while we were parked at the J in North Chicago.
Looks like I'll be out of service for two weeks. Not a happy camper.
I'm no tire guru, but you may want to rethink putting all position tires on both drive axles. I think you would want a bit more traction for the inclement weather.

List them on Amazon and buy it and drop ship it from Walmart. Easy money from the truck :-)
We've done well in Florida lately, especially with TVAL loads. On one of the loads that cancelled, we were predispatched picking up in Gainesville heading to NY. Nice paying gig.
