    Question

Lets say, one applies for a driving position, and fills in DL#, SSN# etc., can the company go ahead and pull the driving record, check on the listed traffic violations, background and so forth, or is there a extra permission to be signed by the applicant? Isn't it typically, that these things...

    I've had enough

Lucky are those with the fuel surcharge. Even my company has ajusted their pay rates, it is still not making up for the higher fuel prices. And if we were all paid for deadhead, that would make life easier than ever. This past week, I checked out another company, who would have offered me runs...

Could A Cargo Van Pay For Itself?

It depends on what you want to haul, how far or how much it will be paid for, r.e. by the mile or by percentage of the cargo.

    tough decisions

kw express: now it is too late to work with FEMA or any other organisation to provide help in the disaster area. You have to have some sort of training, and it will not be enough time to prepare an individual to be dispatched to LA, according to the chapter in my town. Anybody can sign up, but...

IS ANYBODY MAKING MONEY DRIVING WITH THESE GAS PR

RE: IS ANYBODY MAKING MONEY DRIVING WITH THESE GA I am just glad that I am not the only one. I hear you, loud and clear, and I feel with you. My company told me that they are working something out, not sure what, should have an answer by now. I am looking already for an hourly job, it's easier...

A reminder to all who post on the forum

Bad language can be taken care of, but paragraphs sometimes is subject to beeing pc litherate. It takes myself ages to write up a answer for example, and I might forget to hit the enter key, so please be forgiving for those non-computer-wizzards! We are only human, and try real hard! tough decisions

I am in the same boat than Bryan. This year I was not able to average more than 1000 loaded miles a week. My company is big in local and gets me out almost every day of the week except mondays, they claim not to have any loads on the screen. If there is a load once in a great while, I take it...

Has anybody seen this yet ??

RE: my response to the ata or however is getting t I am in the same boat. The resources are gone due to the fuel prices and I have no idea how to make up for that, not in this life anyway.:( In part of my city, fuel supply has been cut and several smaller gas stations had signs posted yesterday...

    Fuel Surcharge

And that is easier said than done, nobody hires van drivers right now. Last week I spoke to a TriState recruiter in Detroit, too many vans, too little freight. I was told, Panther hires 15 drivers a week troughout the states, if they make any money, is not of interest. Yesterday in Toledo, more...

    Good company to work for?

I'd like to know how dispatch operates at Premium Transportation Logistics... A very good friend of mine signed on with them by August 1. He was doing some local work in his town, but did not make enough. Now that he is signed on with PTL, he has yet to be offered a run. He recieves emails so...

Where have the rates per mile gone?

Last friday in Detroit, I had the oppertunity to talk to a recruiter from a very well known company, turns out they don't pay what they did a year ago, admitted they had lost some good contracts in automotive, and also don't have enough freight for their vans either, although they had a hiring...

    Fuel

I agree with what was said in all those posts, but frankly, I don't know how action could be taken without some of us beeing hurt financially. I have realized that it only backfires on me when I turn down a load that sounds not profitable enough, or I know for sure I will not have a backload...

    Health Insurance

RE: What is the philosophic objection RE: Health Those of you who are with BCBS, is there a benefit for accident and emergency room/hospital on the road? After sifting trough this fiasko, I was told today by an agent, that most insurance plans will not pay for anything that happens on the...

Gas prices vs. Fuel Surcharge and Pay Rates

I agree on that 100% To my surprise when I got paid this week, my pay per mile was ajusted, even tho I had prepared to speak up, because the last weeks took it's toll on my expenses. My company claims that they do not charge customers fuel surcharge, but I find that very hard to believe. I...

    advise on getting into industry!

I am a o/o and leased on to a carrier. I don't have much experience in regards to the pay. Perhaps you could go on the Find Jobs section here on the forum, and read trough the advertising there. Some ads explain how o/o pay their drivers. Maybe that gives you an idea.

    advise on getting into industry!

I don't really know what to tell you. If I had to do it all over, I'd be scared out of my mind to start fresh now in regards to those insane fuel prices. I might be running around like crazy to locate the best paying company. I bet things are alot harder also for those driving for a o/o with...
