Average % of empty miles in a week/month

Of course it matters alot how many deadhead miles one has in a week. It bothers us to no end, that our company doesn't provide enough backloads, or pay better. We have tried flat % rates and .cents/mile, but boy do we wish to be paid $1.25-$1.88/mile. In a good week we have 1500 loaded miles if...

Sinking Fast-Need Advice Desperately! Glen Rice, T

RE: Sinking Fast-Need Advice Desperately! Glen Ric Not everybody is that lucky to have funds to cover more than 3 month. We started the company last May and ran from bank to bank in order to get that kinda money, no luck. The reserves are gone due to bad week in July, around Thanksgiving and...

We, (owner operator) are working with a company in Milwaukee and are having almost the same troubles than you do. Before and...

    Owner Operator Question

I guess any company would be happy to have you back as soon as possible.(Even tho it is very slow right now) The only thing that would bother me alot is the pay you miss out on.

    Nextel?

We have been talked into Nextel because the company we work for has it. Thought the free incoming calls and walkie-talkie feature was nice, but the coverage areas suck big time. For the price, we could have gotten a much better deal elsewhere. Unfortunately we stuck with the 2-year contract now...

    Slow???????????????????????

We had only 1000 loaded miles this past week, so that was slow for us. As for Milwaukee and Chicago area, there is a ton of loads out there, and so is the Detroit area. Needless to say, one can not fly back and forth...We'd love to get more out of the Cincinnati area, but it seems it will not...

RE: Jung Express/@mrandmrs: What do you exactly mean by "there is nobody available to explain things"? How much info does one need in order to go from point A to point B? I don't understand. One gets the shipping papers and starts driving to the destination address. What else???

    business insurance?

I like to put in my 2 cents too. We had trouble with the insurance for our 1-ton cargo van too. We have now liability insurance trough State Auto at about $80/month. The agent told us, that load insurance would run about $3500/year. We can not afford that since we only run one vehicle and don't...
