We use a simple curtain on a spring loaded shower rod to reduce the cooled space to about 1/2 of the van... which makes it very cool inside.

I tried a no name China made "1,200 " watt generator and it wouldn't start a 5,000 BTU air conditioner on "high cool" but probably would with a hard start capacitor. I don't know if the output was really 1,200 watts... but a 1,600 / 2,000 generator has enough headroom to run a 700 watt microwave...

We use household 5,000 BTU air conditioners in our super-well insulated vans. A 2,000 watt surge, 1,600 atts running generator easily runs these air conditioners. They use 1 gallon of gas every 6-8 hours, depending on the outside temperature!

I think I forgot to post the Fridge / Microwave / Qualcomm installation. Here it is. The tray the screen is mounted on contains all the extra cable lengths along with the scanner.

It stays there UNLESS the van is carrying a tall, 3 skid load. in those few cases, the red bungie is quickly undone and the air conditioner relocated to the front right floor.

I am told Chrysler will not provide techs with the programming to eliminate the light. One of my Promasters has two seats so when I wanted to remove the passenger seat, I asked the dealer to help me convince Chrysler to allow the reprogramming but no... the response was that for legal exposure...
