    Sprinter conversions

Try this link: Death rate comparison to Iraq and Washington DC-Fiction! Google continues to amaze me. It's a wonderful democratizer.

    Sprinter conversions

I wonder what the fatality statistics are for cargo van accidents with vs without steel bulkheads. Cargo or not, there is also the "roll bar" benefit to consider in the event of a rollover. There are currently 60% fewer than that number of US troops serving in Iraq on our behalf.

    West side story?

Thanks, Phil. I pulled the quote from that forum so that the general public could post comments. ;) Someone (maybe you!) made the comment that reefers are in high demand in the southwest. Would you agree, and do you find yours to be a huge advantage in garnering loads?

    West side story?

Actually it's a comment from a driver, who struck out after a week on the "west coast" and returned back east in frustration...not much experience from which to draw such a conclusion.

    This is just TOO Funny!!

It has been well documented that while BO's father may have Keynesian, his mother was clearly from the Supply Side. :D

I looked into an armored conversion for DC deliveries, but the added plating puts you too close to the maximum GVWR.

    West side story?

"Most of the western state runs required a lift gate or reefer." For those who are familiar with routes in the western 11 states, has this been your experience as well?

    2k to 3000mi a weak lease

It seems to me 3000 miles in seven days on a regular basis would make one weak...

    Sprinter conversions

$10k is a lot if you have to drive for it. I don't. I can keep my desk job and have the conversion paid for before the paint's dry on it. Or, quit the job, do it myself, and six months later look at all the cash I saved. Now if Turtle decides to accept commissioned work, that's a...

    Sprinter conversions

Well, for me it is a LIFESTYLE truck. I'm not looking to drive for THE MAN any more, and I expect some long waits working the WestSide of this great land.

    Sprinter conversions

How we value money is subjective, right? I'm looking for a lifestyle change. If only interested in making money, I'd keep my day job. Adding the sleeping and living portion for 25% of the cost of the vehicle, with minimal impact to income potential, seems perfectly in line. The local MB...

    Sprinter conversions

Somewhere I saw a conversion that included a bed that stretched across the two seats. I'll keep an eye out for that. I've also seen two by fours inserted across the van width, presumably to support your third and fourth pallets. From the threads, though, I can't see much requirement for...

    Sprinter conversions

Talked to Jack, who is most helpful and knowledgeable. He says Midway can get you set up for $10k and 600lb. That keeps you within load limits on a Sprinter so that one could still accommodate two pallets and 2000#, even in the current heavier vehicles. :) I'd love to hear from others who...

    GVWR poll

Greg, just pulsing the industry to help determine which cv will work for me without having to bend the Safe and Legal rules. I wouldn't want to misrepresent my true ccc, though there seems to be some play with the numbers. If the recruiter will agree to a lesser load capacity than 2500#, that...

    cargo van weight limit?

escapepod And then the modular unit can be removed to accommodate larger loads and towed behind. So where ya' supposed to store the kayaks?

    cargo van weight limit?

One upfitter offers the following Sprinter expediter/sleeper package: Twin size lower bed with lower cabinet storage, fold down upper bunk bed, stainless steel microwave, stainless steel refrigerator, slide-out toilet, modular table/work station, two inverters, two heavy duty RV batteries...

    GVWR poll

Do you... 1) Keep your vehicle under its maximum GVWR, always, or nearly so :p 2) Push the loads above the limit, probably too often :o 3) Look for the quickest bang for the buck, GVWR be ****ed  4) Haven't weighed lately, so not really sure of my cargo capacity  5) Gee Vee Who...

    cargo van weight limit?

Best Sprinter I'm seeing out there: 2005 2500, with excellent ccc and mileage, including toys. Finding a good one and getting it quickly into service under the five-year mark is another story. It's always somethin'.

    cargo van weight limit?

Agree, that's the acid test, though it helps to know in advance whether a 2500 will provide sufficient carrying capacity or not. Once you hit the scale it may be too late.

    cargo van weight limit?

    1) curb weight may/may not include the driver, depending on the vehicle's country of origin whim of the manufacturer.:o
