I think you are right ..However, to be sent a bid package I believe all you need is be registered with the defense dept.as a contractor ...I am not sure
Could you give any more information reqarding DOD security certificate 10 years...Who would I contact? and what numbers do I need to have.... I like the idea of dealing direct ;and finding loads from govt.r boards....If old and ugly helps I should be first out.
Good Answer....Simply apply to haul freight for whatever agency or branch of service and each will provide you with the necessary information ..insur..etc. Thanks B
My wife believes the stress of driving a sprinter would be far less than a larger truck....Teams in Sprinters seem to running beween 1500-2000mi. per week @ 1.00+ There should be room for one more......
Apparently, FedEx has such an arrangement with the US govt. If an individual has their own authority....then should not they be offered the same opportunities to haul high security freight .
What I am asking is what does a carrier need to do to qualify..to bid on such freight?
I understand that to haul some govt. freight requires special security clearance for their drivers ...Is it possible to attain such clearance so that whatever the company I contract with; I would have the necessary requirements. Could I acquire this clearance without going through an expediting...
I am considering signing on with a major expediting company...they move govt. freight which requires security clearance. How do i attain such clearance without going thought the company and is that clearance transferable from one company to another?
thank you,, You have done your homework...Ann and I will probably acquire a Cargo Van 14; 12,000+GVW what should a team do if a driver for whatever the reason begins to tires after 4 or 5 hours and their partner is ready to relieve them for a few hours...Everyone is different...
You are right ...a B unit too small.....a cargo van under 10GVW with a sleeper leaves only 2000# for cargo....
a cargo van 14' Cube with 14GVW allows at least 4000# of cargo
on 4 pallets Now ,tell me how we drive 5hrs. on and 5hrs off Bear
Back to the drawing board....... there really isn't much difference between D and C units except a D unit gets more loads, Thank you both for your help....i will do more research... We are doing this for the money ... Nevertheless, Ann wants a kinder and easier way of expediating....I want...
I had forgotten the weight issue ....It was volume that was my focus. Since the Cube Van is only rated at 10k then logs become necessary...and so do Chicken Houses..The stress level is already increasing thinking about how i am going to explain to
Ann why we need a bigger truck .
