Ok guys/gals..i am seriously debating in my mind to get back in to expediting..been out 8 months after 8 years..looking to drive a Cargo van but can do a straight truck ,,which company do you all think would be best to go with? I can stay out for weeks at a time..usually do 5 to 6 weeks out then home a week. I may end up driving for a owner or buy my own if possible..give me your opinions.

You've been doing this for 8 years and took an 8 month sabbatical, correct? What do you think has changed in this industry over the past 8 months? You should be asking yourself what company would be best for you!

well there has been some changes.. I dispatch at a company now and i see different companies doing freight in different areas and what not i didnt see before. i dont want to run witht he big top 5 because i never done good with them..u get lost in the numbers there.. smaller companies is what i am looking for. Maybe some feed back form others who are with them now and what they think.

I wouldn't start again in a CV..yea a smaller company might keep one busier then a mid to large company..but id start in a srw cube with a 12 ft body..or a ST..as to whuch company..call them and find the one that fits your business plan...yea other drivers can tell you the good bad and ugly, but you still have to find the one that works for you....

No they aren't... the srw 9600-9900 gvw 12 ft cubes are becoming more available in 3-4 yr old trucks..and new ones are all over dealerslots....i passed a used truck dealer in Dallas last week that had to have 6-8 with different body configurations on the front line..That used truck dealer on I 75 around Lima Ohio always has a few of them on his lot...There is a place on 30 just across the stateline in indiana coming from ohio..that always has a few...yea they maybe hard to finnd in your "local" used car ads, but they are all over the country..stop at a TS and pickup a Truck Paper..there are 10 of them in srw and drw in the one i have in the truck..its a few weeks old, and they come and go, but there are always units available...there are 2 Cargo Max's in Philly right now for under $30 grand...you might have to fly to some place to buy one, but they are available...
