He may wind up being a better pick for republicans as he has a fairly decent record that is current. Especially on the job creation front. Texas and a few other states pretty much make up all the recent job creation in the country.

I think he could very well catapult to front runner status overnight if he throws his hat in. I just don't see Romney(the current front runner) closing the sale with the party faithful or the general electorate.

Perry seems like the anti-Romney, the way Obama was the anti-Hillary 4 years ago. She was an early front runner who couldn't close the sale and in came Obama. I can easily see Perry fulfilling that same dark horse role for the Republicans.

After reading the article, he sounds even better. Cutting frivilous education spending? Imagine that! Questioning the research emphasis in the state's two top universities? Maybe he thinks these stuffy liberal professors should be spending more time teaching. A hard-nosed campaigner, perhaps not intimidated by the Jr. Senator from IL that currently masquerades as POTUS - sounds like he's the real deal.

Perry is a C+, maybe a B-, and certainly better than the D-/F we have now. Texas has created more jobs than every other state combined I believe. We are certainly better than the current chump in chief.

Come on Chef, if you're going to mention Charlotte, try to spell it correctly. Seriously, good or bad, Charlotte will be in the public eye for that week, and as has been said before: All publicity is good. I just hope it's not Chicago '68 again.

BTW, my wife's office is just a few blocks from the convention center. Her boss is considering closing for that week. Security uptown is going to be a beeatch.
